Product Description
The StarTech.com external USB IDE drive case can turn any IDE drive into a portable drive. It provides a single 5.25 inch bay for IDE CD-ROM drives. 3.5 inch hard drives can be installed by using a 5.25 to 3.5 inch drive adapter bracket (not included). The sleek looking Aluminum case features an internal 5cm ball bearing cooling fan to keep the drive running cool. The super-high speed ¿up to 480Mbps - USB Version 2.0 interface provides plug and play installation for Windows 98SE/ME/2000/XP.

Wanted to make my DVD burner portable. The case is very well made. It was easy to install my DVD burner. It required using the provided screws to mount the drive to the base of the case. The case has a removeable front panel to allow it work with either an EIDE drive or a drive with a tray that slides open. It has a fan for cooling. It is fairly quiet. It worked the first time I plugged it in to my computer's USB 2.0 port. It burns DVD's at 8x without a problem. My system does not allow me to burn discs at a faster rate.

My desktop PC died and I used this case to access my boot drive and copy all my important files onto my netbook. It was very easy to install the ide hard drive into this case. It worked perfect! I got all my data. This is a very well made, quality product. Highly recommended.

The DVD drive in my macbook got region locked, so you know what that means. Since there's no firmware for my particular drive available at the moment, and it got locked in a region other that my own, i had to find a replacement, this case is the solution, you can fit aby IDE HD, and the DVD burner from my old pc, fits perfectly.
