Paul Alan - music for people in the real world,
By
This review is from: Drive It Home (Audio CD)
Paul Alan (former vocalist for Nouveaux) finally, after a 7 year wait, released his 2nd solo cd, "Drive it Home". His solo debut "Falling Awake" is honestly one of the top 5 cds in my collection...an underrated, overlooked pop/rock masterpiece. Following up that album would be no easy task. However, Paul does an admirable job delivering the catchy hooks, strong melodies, passionate vocals, and soul searching lyrics he's known for. His voice is comparable to Richard Marx, which suits the material perfectly. There's a few more ballads and mid-tempo tracks this time around, but its still distinctly Paul.
His true gift is his lyrics. He doesn't speak to the holier than thou types who think they have it all figured out. No, he speaks to everyday people like you and me, to misfits, all of us falling short, to anyone that has experienced doubts, loneliness, and insecurities, who questions the way things are, and who wrestles with faith. In short, his songs exist in the real world we all grapple and struggle with, searching for answers. His lyrics have even ranged to the loneliness inherent in waiting for "the one" meant for us. This makes Paul very unique in the CCM world. However, his overriding theme is hope, which transcends religion, and I can only hope more people are as blessed as I to stumble upon this wonderful, humble artist's offerings. Standout tracks: "To Bring You Back", "Come to Jesus", "Drive it Home", "Canyon", and "Another Silent Night".

I thought that Paul's first album was a masterpiece which would never be bettered..well thats the beauty of his music, it surpasses any expectations i have in a wonderful way. Paul's lyrics speak straight to the heart and are really God-inspired and relevant. Musically the album is superb and draws out the emotions inside one.If i had to rate each song they would be all 10/10 but the standout tracks are Bethlehem, a true rock classic, as well as Another Silent Night, a powerful and moving ballad. Overall this album should be recognised for its sincerity and its powerful message..one of redemption and hope for the lost..what a Blessing

This was a really good CD. I have to admit I wasn't crazy about all the songs on it but certainly loved "To bring you back"!

I hadn't heard Paul Alan before listening to this album. What a great talent! Theses songs as so smooth, so powerful. Not a clinker in the entire album. You can feel the emotion in each one. Have you ever listened to a CD and have it feel like you've loved it all your life? That's what I found in this CD.

Still not here!,

I still have not received the item, the seller notified me that they had a problem and they would not have one to send for a couple more weeks. I really wanted this cd and told them that I would wait, however; this seems like a ridiculous length of time to wait for a cd.

This is Christian?,

I am a Christian and I was expecting some Christian music, what I got was music which seemed to be all about a girlfriend. I was very disappointed and this music is nothing close to what I consider Christian to be. In his "Thanks" section he lists God last and it is so vague a Muslim could have written it, no mention of Jesus at all.
