Given the reasonable price, I thought this lamp might have been a let down once I really examined it closely. Glad to say that I was quite wrong. It arrived in a well packed box and all the parts were in perfect shape. Assembly was a cinch and I had it together in less than 5 minutes. All one needs is a good adjustable wrench. The casters are fastened to the base already - they need no further tightening. The base is very sturdy as is the post. The goose-neck portion with attached lamp is a little stiff but I suppose this will loosen up after a little use.

My only concern is the fact that the variable height post in the center has no locking collar. The inner post stays in place by friction with the outer post. I suspect that over time this may weaken and the lamp could start sliding down. I'm not too worried about this since I plan to keep it in one position anyway.

The chrome finish is great. Keeping it clean and sterile will be easy. I'm a tattoo artist and I don't like using anything with cheap plastic parts as they don't allow for proper cleaning. Also, I prefer sturdy equipment that lasts. I'm very impressed with this affordable exam lamp. Good stuff.

The lamp shade is fine, but the rest of the construction is rattly and cheap. Only three wheels touch the ground at a time because it's so poorly balanced. That's what you get for "Made in China".
