Light weight and easy to handle, my father (90) can fold it up and put it in the trunk of the car (yes I know that's scary).

I bought the Duet for my mother to replace a rollator (rolling walker/wheeled walker). She would walk a short distance and then turn around in sit in it and expect my dad to push her. It was pretty hard on dad. I suggested that we get her a wheelchair, to which she responded, absolutely NOT. A wheelchair would make her look old and frail (never mind she is 92 and frail) ;->

So here are the great reasons to buy this unit.

Wheels are larger than most rollators (wheeled walkers), this is important as it makes it easier to go over bumps on the floor (metal carpet joints, elevator entrances etc.) while sitting in the unit.

The seat height is adjustable, this is working out for her because she tends to sit in it and pull herself along with her feet (walking without standing)- sort of the antithesis of a walker.

There is a fold away foot rest. Lift it up and she can walk for herself, fold it down and she can put her feet up and just ride along.

There are handholds going in both directions, a place to hold on to while she is being pushed or motivating herself around.

The seat lifts up and has storage underneath.

Light weight and easy to handle, my father (90) can fold it up and put it in the trunk of the car (yes I know that's scary).

The back rest is reversible. It can be easily changed from a rolling walker to a transport chair simply by removing the back and putting back on the other side, no tools needed.

Now for the problem. One of the fork fasteners has stripped out. The unit comes with a limited lifetime warranty so I'll follow up with an update on what it takes to get service.

I gave the unit 5 star rating because of the utilitarian design and the initial experience.

We purchased this transporter from this vendor. After looking at the item we found it would not suit the needs of our son. Spoke to customer service about returning the item and found out that once we opened the box it is now considered "used" and it can not be sent back for any type of refund. I tried to reason with customer service and he did his best to end the conversation.

If you decide to use the vendor make sure you do not open the packaging once it arrives to see the contents because at that point it is yours to keep.

This Walker is NOT SAFE as a transport chair. My Grandfather was tipped out when he leaned forward and broke his head open. When you use the footrest it causes the walker to tip and dump you out, it happens very quickly before you know it. It also can happen when you get in and out of the chair. We have tried to contact the manufacturer but can't seem to get through to them. They claimed that the manual tells you that the walker has these problems. I checked and they're right it says quote "THIS ITEM SHOULD NEVER BE SECURED FOR TRANSPORT." It also says under SAFETY PRECAUTIONS # 7. Leaning forward while using the Duet as a transport chair without proper assistance can cause tipping. Bottom line is most people won't realize that it is UN-SAFE until its too late.

BUYERS BEWARE!!!!!

In our family, we already have four rollators for two people which are used on a daily basis. So we are very familiar with rollators as walking aids. When we saw this one we thought what a great idea and ordered immediately. Today was the first day we used it -- to go from car up a slight and smooth handicap curb into doctor's office. What a nightmare. Not only was it hard to push and steer (occupant only weighs 120 pds.) but it became unstable going over regular, slight and smooth indoor thresholds which commercial buildings have in doorways. Even the experienced medical staff at the doctor's office who tried to help could not. I think this product is hard to use at best and dangerous at worst. Even if we cannot return it for a refund we will scrap it rather than take the chance of an accident caused by its difficulty of use and lack of stability.Drive Medical Duet Transport Chair/Rollator, Burgundy

I wanted to give it a chance before giving a review of the product. I purchased this particular rollator around the late part of January and it arrived in early February. I initially purchased it, as I have a lot of respiratory problems and become winded and weak easily. I thought it might be a suitable alternative to a wheel chair, and it is lighter than my other walker. We took this one on the trip with us to SoCal and used it to transport a laptop bag, a small purse, a backpack and a small camera bag. Rolling it through the airport, it was wobbly, as if it had too much weight on it. Once we unloaded some of the weight, it began rolling smoothly again. The tags that came with it, said it's suitable up to 300lbs. There is no way we put 300lbs on it. This was a little bit concerning to us. I use it when I go to church, because the pews are uncomfortable. I use it when my husband and I go out to dinner, sometimes because the chairs at certain restaurants are uncomfortable. I've not yet had my husband push me around in it. We are in the process of looking for a suitable lap belt for it, in the event he does push me and accidentally dumps me forward. I did discover that this model of dual rollator tips forward very easily. Also, the foot rest doesn't stay 'stowed' when in walker-mode. I prefer this one, to my other walker for two reasons. One, the ability to convert it to a transport chair, and two, the storage under the 'seat' as opposed to a wire basket on the front. :) My model is a bright blue color.
