Drive Wheelchair

I purchased this wheelchair not knowing it would fold together, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that it did. You simply lift it up by the canvas seating pad and everything collapses. The leg rests also fold aside very easily and the armrests fold up and out of the way so you can slide onto your bed. I tested the maneuverability and it fits into narrow passages and doorways (even ones found in homes that were made in the 1950s). Turning, moving forward, and backwards takes some getting used to if you haven't used a wheelchair. The controls are similar to that of a tracked vehicle in that you control turning and movement via the individual wheels. Or you can have someone just push you around. The wheelchair wasn't very heavy for me, I could lift it around without any difficulty. The shipping was extremely fast and kudos to Amazon for the excellent service. I tried ordering a wheelchair via a medical supply store and they gave me the run around for well over a month. I ordered this chair from Amazon and it arrived within 2 days as guaranteed.

Unfortunately, the packaging wasn't very sufficient. There wasn't any packing material to protect the chair, and the box already fell apart by the time it arrived. The OEM should consider more robust protection.

Pros: Easy to use, lots of features, affordable

Cons: Packaging isn't that great, it could use more protection and better box securements.

Overall: 5/5

OK to start with this is not a "light weight chair".

Right out of the box it's ready to go, just add footrests. I've been in a wheelchair for near 20 years and about tried them all, from super lightweights to what I call dinosaurs, you know the ones you commonly see in most hospitals.
This chair is what you might call upgraded from that. It feels sturdy, good locking breaks, rolls with ease, the push, or rear tires have a rough type finish painted on, for grip that's good, but for fast rolls down ramps, or down hill, could leave a slight burn in your hand, so gloves recommended for that.
All in all, for the price, you can't go wrong. Recommended, if you need a chair and tight on money, hey it looks nice too.

Thanks Amazon, you pulled through yet again!

This wheelchair is wonderful. The quality was great, and we thought it would be much less 'heavy duty' because of the price. It rolls really easy. However, it weighs over 4o lbs. Check the Drive website and it will tell you the true weight of the wheelchair. If you are looking for a lightweight product, this is the same as other wheelchairs. It's still a very nice product though!

When this chair first arrived I thought I was in luck. Unfortunately, even with part time use it lasted less than one year. Since the box said it had a 3 year warranty, I bought another thinking it would give me something to function in while I dealt with the warranty. Drive Medical has made it clear they have no intention of making good on a warranty, they tell you to go to Amazon, which has a thirty day warranty. In approx a week the second chair side broke. Amazon was great and sent me a new chair. It has been 41 days and this chair both sides are broken, the brakes don't hold and the plastic U that holds the seat of the chair is broken and the chair is unsafe to use. (I use the chair, but in no extraordinary ways) Just out of the 30 day warranty. If you are going to push a lightweight senior citizen around the store this might work, but don't bother to contact Drive Medical if it doesn't.
Would give them negative stars if it were possible.

My father suffered from a stroke so we had to rent a chair similar to this for $90 a month ... imagine.
Bought this chair cause of the movable arm rests & price.
Its simply great , I dont think you can ask for anything more on a normal wheel chair, highly recommend it.

We needed to buy our first wheelchair for our teenage daughter, a challenging task when the future is unknown. We settled on this due to its simplicity and price, figuring that it would tide us over until we determined what, if any, were our permanent needs. We didn't want to spend a lot of money on the wrong chair. VERY PLEASANTLY SURPRISED at how wonderful this chair is. It has all the features we need with nothing extra, seems very sturdy and will likely be the only chair we ever need. The fip up arms are very nice to get under tables, the leg braces flip up and away easily for entering and exiting the chair and can be completely removed simply, with no tools if it makes it easier to store in a car or just if you don't need. It has a nice pocket on the back of the seat which was a nice surprise. The 18" width was perfect for my 150 lb (short stature so overweight) child. Anything narrower would have been a tight fit. Anything wider would have been hard to get through doors. This fits, but just in some cases. It is easy to push and turns easily. Only time will tell how the rubber (not inflatable tires) tires hold up, but we won't likely be using it full time, just for longer outings or post surgeries.

I was looking for a wheelchair for my mother who lives in a Senior Care Center. A local medical supply store said they had a slightly used wheelchair used by a student and that it would fit her well since she was just under 100 lbs. Their GREAT price was $250 which I thought was high after shopping on Amazon so I went by to see it. The brand was Drive Medical like this one but I could not understand why it was so expensive, especially since it was used. I went back to where mom lived and noted the brand names of several used by residents. I decided to buy this model since with shipping it was $108! It came fully assembled and in great condition. I liked that is was BLUE since it would stand out as mom's since the rest were chrome or black.

The only thing I am not crazy about is the arm rests that can be lifted up for those that can use them to get out of the chair sideways to a bed or a chair. It's a great feature, but too easy to unhook and I worry that my mom may unhook and not know it and it may make her unstable.

Very good quality for the price. I would recommend to anyone.
