5.0 out of 5 stars Don't be narrow minded
This album is awesome, at first listen I thought it was unoriginal, on the surface I heard "sing, scream, sing" and put it into a generic 'heard it all before' category. But the more I listened to it I realised that this band, have such a large variety to their music. Narrow mindedness is a horrible thing! Listen to this album with an open mind and I'm sure...

This band sounds like the European
version of Boy Sets Fire, and that is not a good thing.
I can't think of an album that false advertises more
than this one. For one thing, Derek Hess designed the
album artwork... I am used to associating his "brand" with

4.0 out of 5 stars (most of) you are all nuts, August 12, 2005

talk about unexpected! do you guys even LIKE music? after reading these reviews, i'm positive all you guys were listening to HANSEN and not "the hurt process". now, they're far from my favorite band but they ARE one of about 30 cd's in my constant rotation. melodic vocals and great screaming on top of some really catchy (and hard) music makes this band a far cry from the complaining i've been reading. i think the reason so many are quick to judge is because these guys effortlessy put forth such a diversity of music. i am a true lover of all good music. my collection ranges from the really hard (from autumn to ashes, folly) to the (dare i say it) poppier punk stuff (good riddance, strike anywhere). i can't really say i have a favorite type of music, if you listen enough, you'll hear the cream of any crop. these guys make their own genre and that's a good thing. the punk in me loves the stray from the indecipherable lyrics and chug-chug riffs of most hardcore bands, yet there's plenty of very hard stuff to get your blood pumping.
if you're the kind of closed-minded person who stays true to one kind of music, you'll probably wind up thinking along the same lines as these other reviewers. however, if you're the kind of person who gets frustrated at not being able to get your metal/hardcore/punk fix all in one place, look no further. it's hard. it's fast. it's melodic (that means catchy, not slow by the way). it's "the hurt process", and this
punk/hardcore kid/metalhead will definitly be watching for these guys in the future. -keep rockin

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Awesome, March 28, 2004

Hands down, this is the best album to hit the stores in a long time. They have mixed emo and hardcore just as good as if not better than FATA. These guys know what they are doing and I say that we should be hearing more and more from them in the future.

4.0 out of 5 stars You guys are so small minded . put down the p2p for a sec., December 12, 2004
This review is from: Drive By Monologue (Audio CD)
Ofcourse this sounds like _____ . This happens due to the fact everyone downloads 4000 mp3's and 100 bands at once . Theres something called ''influences'' .. Also , i do not agree they sound anything like the bands you are all listing . This band is pretty good , catchy and theres screams that go in and out of the songs . It's not as bad as you all make it sound .

5.0 out of 5 stars I see ignoramuses...., May 22, 2006
This review is from: Drive By Monologue (Audio CD)
Normally this Cd would get 4 stars from me but since it deserves better than the 3 star average it has here I'm gonna give it a 5.

It sounds like some of these "metal" fans shouldn't even be here. Morons. This CD is probably closer to emo than hardcore and thus the term Emo Hardcore is born.

Now, in my opinion, anyone that only listens to one kind of music and absolutely "loathes" everything else shouldn't be allowed to review music. I'm usually into harder stuff (Poison the Well, Norma Jean, Eso Charis) but that doesn't mean that I can't like something like this. And to tell you the truth I'm not JUST into Emo or Hardcore and their subgenres. I just like really well written, powerful music. And this is definitely a good CD. Not Silverstein but if you like them I think you'll like these guys.

Well written, to me means emotionally powerful, written from the heart. That's why I like to use the term "emotioncore". If you consider yourself an emocore kid this CD should probably be in your collection.

I can't think of an album that false advertises more

The music is so bitter and bland, and never goes anywhere.
Where are the dynamics? On the cover is says "For fans of

Thursday, FATA, Taking Back Sunday" and I can see where
this album is in the same vein, but I would be very offended to
see my band compared to this one. (2.5/10)

1.0 out of 5 stars Just plain bad., July 12, 2005

Bruce Campbell "destroyer_of_false_metal" ((Borrowed that from Shadows Fall, one of the greatest bands to ever set foot on this earth)) - See all my reviews

A couple months ago i burned the Bleeding Through CD for one of my firends. In return he burnt me a copy of this, which he said was good, and he thought i would like, knowing i listen to a lot of metal/hardcore bands. So he gave me the CD, i put it in my computer and gave it a listen. Here's what happened...

Now i had heard of the Hurt Process long before he gave me the CD. I had listened to "This Piece" a lot during the previous summer. It was a decent tune, and it sort of had a nostalgic feel to it. I never actually bought the CD due to mixed reviews on Amazon here, mostly negative. So i was interested to hear what this sounded like. To say i was digusted would be giving the band too much credit.

Now, when i purchase a CD and listen to it, even if i don't like it, there's something there that i can say, "hey not bad". I've never actually bought a CD and loathed it. When i was younger, and didn't listen to metal, i bought some CDs i now don't like, but at the time did. I may not like all these metal CDs in a couple years (i doubt it though), but for the time, when i buy a CD i usually find something i like in it. I just couldn't with this CD. It was so bland and dry. It's just terrible. Nothing stuck out, it all seemed like the same thing. It's just awful.

THis might be the worst CD I've ever heard. I'm open minded when listening to my genre of music (metal/hardcore) and usually find something redemable, but not this CD. I listend to it once and lost the CD and i have no desire to try and find it. To give this CD more then one star is unbelieavable. This is just bad music, plain and simple.

When seeing this in the record store, I was drawn to the sticker on the front featuring Taking Back Sunday, Thursday, From Autumn To Ashes and Poison The Well. All amazing bands in their own respects, but this album should not be compared to these bands or their albums. This cd has some interesting instrumental work but nothing spectacular. The vocals sound dry and uninteresting. All in all, this album was a big disappointment. The sticker throws the consumer right off, it is decieving.
