Excellent Book on Great Leadership,

This review is from: Driven: A How-to Strategy for Unlocking Your Greatest Potential (Hardcover)
I am obsessed with the fact that some people achieve such greatness yet others spend their lives sitting on the couch complaining about everything around them and satisfied with being miserable. "Driven" was one of the best business books (I am an avid business/self help reader)I've read to date. I started reading it yesterday morning and was finished by mid afternoon. It is one of those books where you can take concrete action items to propel your life ahead. Every leader - business and community alike - should read it and I will be recommending it to every business owner I work with. Thank you Razi!

This book shares an extraordinary story. Nothing like the typical self-help book. If you are looking for a new way to move ahead in life, this book contains the key. I inhaled it.

Hope For All,
This review is from: Driven: A How-to Strategy for Unlocking Your Greatest Potential (Kindle Edition)
I wish "Driven" had been available before I retired as a college professor. For 42 years, I taught English at Penn State University. I would have made the book required reading for its creative writing style and for its message of hope and inspiration for anyone wishing to succeed personally, professionally, and communally. The theme of "Driven" by Razi Imam is Junoon-"the state of obsession to achieve the impossible." The book's sub-title is "A How-To Strategy For Unlocking Your Greatest Potential." Most how-to books are written in a third person point of view in a technical, objective manner. What makes this book appealing and interesting to read is its first person narrative style. What makes the read even more compelling is the narrative framework of a quest - one person's passionate search to find the "answer to what makes ordinary people achieve the impossible." Another imaginative touch to this how-to book is the suspense and intrigue of the search. The answers to the narrator's questions are revealed gradually during late night encounters and conversations in a dimly-lit section of a library. Two mysterious beings - Mir Pacha and Mir Kotti - appear, disappear, and reappear the next day to help the narrator understand Junoon. What the narrator learns are the "five cascading waves of Junoon":pure inspiration, sixth sight, fanatic focus, metaphysical energy, and social Junoon. On one level, these are presented as a business plan for success. On a higher level they are presented as a way to "uplift humanity." Imam's book gives great hope to all. Its premise is that "ordinary people" can achieve Junoon. The power for extraordinary achievement is not limited to a special few. Each of us has the inherent power to attempt the unbelievable and achieve the impossible. Mark Francis Professor of English

What a compelling read. This is how all business books should be written. I won't spoil the read for you but the concept of Janoon and the way Razi Imam sets it forth is really, really fantastic and can really have an impact on you and on your career. A fantastic book - with concepts you will love, can remember, and can apply.

Driven: A How-to Strategy for Unlocking Your Greatest PotentialA very easy read written in an anecdotal prose, inspiring at times, teaching at times. The author takes us on a life journey and in the process opens up a method to fulfil our passions, our goals based on an Eastern concept. Once the strategy is revealed it seems so very very easy to execute. Enjoyed it.

Fantastic and inspirational! I've read dozens of self improvement and goal setting books but Driven by Razi Imam is the first goal setting book that I read in one sitting. Driven tells the amazing story of Razi Imam's journey from a young boy working in the ship yards of Kuwait to a life of achievement in the United States. Driven also introduces you to the concept of Junoon - the burning passion that every super achiever has to design and realize big dreams that are truly compelling and world changing. While Junoon encompasses some of the same concepts that other how-to goal setting books cover, Driven captures these concepts on a much grander scale and in a fresh and highly inspirational way. The framework of Junoon is simple, elegant, and dramatically effective. If you're looking for a destiny altering book that goes beyond the "paint by numbers" approach to goal setting, this book is for you. Highly recommended!

Razi explains Junoon, an obsessive state one gets into to achieve a goal. The book is an exploration of an almost unbelievable self help effort by Razi to rise from being a Kuwait dock yard worker to owning a successful software company in the US. Along the way you learn much about Junoon and how to achieve it yourself. Clearly written , it will grab you to finish the book.

I couldn't put the book down - I would try reading a few pages before bed and would wind up reading multiple chapters before I knew it. It's beautifully written and feels like a conversation with the author rather than a lecture on success.Great gift for any age or perfect for the commuter who doesn't want to carry anything large or bulky. I HIGHLY recommend!!

As far as motivational books are concerned, Driven ranks among the top. My reason for giving it five stars is as follows. The best way to explain what this book accomplishes is that you are aware of the grand canyon from books and pictures but don't experience its awesome glory until you actually see it. Likewise this book takes you from being aware of your own true potential to achieving its greatest worth not only for yourself but for the good of the society as a whole. Driven uses vague concepts that you might have in the back of your head and clarifies and formulates them into concrete steps for you to follow in order to achieve a goal. It is not a book that outlines the author overcoming struggles, because let's face it, someone else overcoming an obstacle isn't going to help you with your problems just as some one winning on the price is right doesn't make you any richer. What it does do is teach you the steps, methods, and philosophy needed to transcend the road blocks to your goals. The problem that an average reader might have is that they may focus too much on the "mystical beings" who confer the concepts of Junoon and over look the message itself. I'm sure it is difficult to write a motivational book that keeps the reader engaged also. Imam accomplishes this task by writing the book as a narrative and uses the "beings" as teachers. If you read for content, you might just transform the world in some fashion whether it be small or big.

A wonderful read! I just could not put the book down once I started reading it. It just makes a great sense and helps in discovering and understanding a force that is already within us, yet not generally tapped into or directed towards a constructive and positive use. I am a sucker for personal help books and have read quite a few, but this book stands out because of its writing style and approach and more importantly the message that is so powerful yet simple. A must read for all age groups.
