5.0 out of 5 stars Long awaited sequel to Island of the Innocent
Giving readers a rest from the thrills of the action/adventure oriented Island of the Innocent, Gilbert and Lynn Morris take Driven With the Wind into more emotionally charged territory.

Shiloh Irons-Winslow and Cheney Duvall battle with their differences as they try to find a way to make a more lasting relationship of their three-year-old friendship.

3.0 out of 5 stars Okay but kind of a let-down
I'm going to have to agree with a lot of the other reviewers here. I've been reading the Cheney Duvall books for the characters (not for the writing, which is less-than-stellar) and I was disappointed by the weakening of the characters in this book. I felt Shiloh's scandalous behaviour to be less than convincing (but I realize they were _trying_ to make him seem...

This review is from: Driven with the Wind (Cheney Duvall, M.D. Series #8) (Paperback)

Devlin Buchanan's past comes back to haunt him just as happiness with Victoria DeLancie seems within his grasp.

And Bain Winslow, everyone's favorite villian, is back. But this time Bain escapes his former clichéd character and emerges in a strong supporting role.

Set at a slower pace than previous books in the series, Driven With the Wind never the less holds the reader's attention while carefully solidifying and fine tuning the characters of the cast. Driven With the Wind delivers a satisfying finale to the first part of the Cheney Duvall series and lays a promising groundwork for the many books that we all hope will come.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Book Ever, November 16, 2000
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Driven with the Wind (Cheney Duvall, M.D. Series #8) (Paperback)
I am a long time reader of the Cheney Duvall books. I read this one six times in one weekend. It is the best yet. It has much more about Cheney and Shiloh's relashionship than the others, but still has it's fair share of thrilling adventure. I won't ruin it for you but I will say that I loved the first twenty pages, and the last 100 pages, but the middle of the book made me want to pull my hair out. You get so frustrated with Cheney and Shiloh, and Dev and Victoria. There is a lot more about Dev and Victoia and Dev's past in this book. I totally feel in love with this book and know you will to.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cheney Duvall, MD #8, November 3, 2000

This review is from: Driven with the Wind (Cheney Duvall, M.D. Series #8) (Paperback)
Since Book #7 came out in 1998, I had been waiting impatiently for this book, so when it finally came throught the mail, I was estatic, and proceeded to devour it in one evening. After waiting two years for it, I found that it was well worth the anticipation. After Island of the Innocent, I wasn't sure if the characters' horrifying situations could be surpassed, but Lynn and Gilbert Morris seem to have done it. Many times, I fought my desire to read the final page, just to ensure that everything turns out alright, because you never know. I did manage to leave the ending for the end though, and it was well worth it. Although there are a few areas that could have been described in greater detail(not that I could have done a better job), it was very well written, and an excellent job was done of bringing back characters previously encountered. And if you have never before read any of the Cheney Duvall series, you won't be at a loss, the instances in which they were seen before are recapped (I suppose that this helps those of us who haven't read the others in a while too.) Anyway, it was a wonderful book and already I find myself waiting impatiently for the next. Enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful exciting book!, December 29, 2000
By
This review is from: Driven with the Wind (Cheney Duvall, M.D. Series #8) (Paperback)
I thought it was a wonderful book. I had waited impatiently for Shiloh to finally give his life to God, and I sighed with relief as soon as I read that part. I would have been very sad at the end if I did not know they were writing new books. I always feel sad at the end of a series. I love all the charecters in the book, except Bain Winslow of course! It really kept me on the edge of my seat, so to say. I cannot wait to read the new series!

5.0 out of 5 stars After a year of suspence...., December 14, 2000

This review is from: Driven with the Wind (Cheney Duvall, M.D. Series #8) (Paperback)
I've finally read the last Cheney Duvall, M.D. book. I've loved every minute spent reading this delightful series. Cheney, Shiloh, Victoria, Dev, Richard, Irene, and the rest of the cast have become like friends to me. The Morrises are incredible writers, bringing to life the fictitious characters. After reading the first 7 books of the series, I waited with increasing anticipation for the final book to be published. It took me two days to read it, and I wasn't disappointed in the least! I'm not sure I would say this was the best book in the series, but it is certainly a wonderful end to it. Throughout Driven With The Wind, Cheney has another one of her adventures, becoming an even more exciting character, and Shiloh shows us a different side of him. It was great to see them develope in new, unfamiliar circumstances. Read it for yourself, you won't be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent end and beginning for Cheney and Shiloh!, December 6, 2000

This review is from: Driven with the Wind (Cheney Duvall, M.D. Series #8) (Paperback)
I believe that the characters were completely acting like themselves in Driven With The Wind. There was only one part, very small, in the first chapter that seemed out of character, but everything else followed their personalities perfectly. This book was more thoughtful and it displayed more of every character's personality than any previous one, but it still had that adventure aspect tucked in there in the shape of Bain Winslow and Dev's mysterious past. Also, you will not want to miss the arrival of Cheney's aunts, who offer their own fresh flavor to the book. Overall, you will not want to miss this book, even if you think it is not very good, because it is a necessary part to the series. And I can't wait for the new series, Cheney and Shiloh: The Inheritance, to begin.

5.0 out of 5 stars Overall, December 30, 2000
This review is from: Driven with the Wind (Cheney Duvall, M.D. Series #8) (Paperback)
Overall, I say that Lynn and Gilbert Morris have done an excellent job. Especially with their 8th book of the series, Driven with the Wind. In book 7 they said that the 8th would be their final of the series, and what a better way to end it with the marriage of our two favorite characters Cheney and Shiloh. It is a great set up for the new series, and I can't wait! If you haven't read the Cheney Duvall M.D. series, I strongly urge you to do so!

5.0 out of 5 stars The dramatic conclusion to the Cheney Duvall Md books., August 20, 2002
This review is from: Driven with the Wind (Cheney Duvall, M.D. Series #8) (Paperback)
This book is the 8th book in the set and the last book of the Cheney Duvall Md books. It is about Shilo who has found out who his family is and a woman Dr. Shilo is a Nurse, a buisnessman, a plantation owner in Hawaii, and owns a shiping company. Cheney (the Dr.) is a great Doctor, comes from a wealty family, a Christian, and is in love with Shilo. She knows that Shilo loves her too, but that she can not marry him. The reason is they have different views on faith.
Shilo also has a cousin that hates him because Shilo inherited his fathers' money and buisness. Not to mention because Shilo is the man Bain (Shilos cousin) wants to be. So Bain plots to destroy Cheney and Shilo. Will he get his revenge on Shilo and Cheney? Will Shilo finally become a Christian? Will they Get married? I will leave that for the book to tell.
(P.S. Lynn Morris has started a new series with these two awesome characters. It is called Where Two seas Meet.)

4.0 out of 5 stars conclusive, yet disappointing..., April 12, 2002
By
Aleshia (OK United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Driven with the Wind (Cheney Duvall, M.D. Series #8) (Paperback)
From the moment I read the first book in the Cheney series, I was instantly hooked. The characters were warm and very believable. I loved the way they interacted with each other. Their feelings and emotions were wonderfully characterized. Lynn Morris brought history and research in, while Gilber Morris brought heart and credibility to the characters. The combination was a fabulous one. One that left me captivated and hungry for more each and every time I picked up one of the books...
I was anxiously awaiting this book. Driven With the Wind is the last of this awesome, and one of my all time favorite series. I had heard in advance that Lynn Morris would be the main writer, with Gilbert backing off to work on his other series. From the first chapter, his absence was painfully obvious. The glow...the heart of the characters were gone. The book was just that...a conclusion to the serious. All the loose ends were neatly tied, the proposal was right on cue and then it all comes to a close. I was left thinking..."that was it?" Something was missing...I think it was heart. The warmth between the characters that Gilbert was so adept at creating, was gone. There were also noticable inconsistencies in the characters. Cheney's helper Nia, who had a soft southern accent, suddenly didn't have it. And though Cheney and Shiloh are two well developed characters and acted pretty much they way they should, it made you feel as though you were just reading about what happened...not experiencing it along with them. No strong emotions were brought forth, I was just left with the sense that it was all...lacking.
I gave this book four stars because it was the conclusion to an AWSOME series. The others are memorable and very very well done. I highly recommend this series, just prepare yourself for the rather dry end...

This was an amazing book. I waited for it for over two months. I was not disoppointed. This book kept me in so much suspense that I stayed up till one in the morning just to finish it and I had school the next day. This is one series that I can't wait to read through again
