The 18th season of Law & Order has a major cast shift. In the first episode, Detective Lupo arrives in NYC after a stint with NYPD Intelligence overseas. His brother committed suicide and he joins the squad to investigate. Midway through the season, Detective Green's past catches up with him and he is replaced by Detective Bernard, who was formerly in IAD. The season-long story arc has the partners adjusting to each other, first Green and Lupo, then Lupo and Bernard. This works very well. As always, there are no special effects worth mentioning, technology is in the background, and the focus is on tightly written scripts and solid acting. Jack McCoy is sitting uneasily as the interim D.A., hating the politics and undecided as to his own future. S. Epatha Merkerson is reliably tough as the Lieutenant who runs the squad. The unexpected twists and turns provide plenty of suspense, and there are no bad or mediocre episodes. One of my favorite episodes is Personae Non Grata, which has a bizarre spin on internet relationships. Another is Bottomless, one of those "ripped from the headlines" riffs, which begins oddly with a pair of mislaid pants. I'm a real fan of this two-decades-long series and even though I've seen every episode several times, they never grow stale.

I love this show and have been a fan for years. When a character leaves that has been on for a really long time it feels like we lost a member of our family. I do want to thank NBC for Actor Jesse L. Martin - Detective Ed Green for not killing him off or finding him guilty. That would ruin this show for me. Why I'm thankful because he can comeback if he wanted to (I hope). It did seem that since the death of (my favorite) Actor Jerry Orbach - Detective Lennie Briscoe he really hasn't found a someone to compliment him even though he did work with a few partners one can see he could use a break. It cant be easy. When NBC finally found someone (new character) Jeremy Sisto - Detective Cyrus Lupo to partner with I thought it was a perfect fit they complimented each other. One quiet, the other not and so on. But he seemed to be hired to late for I think Jesse (burned out) needs the break. I hope he has a very good retirement from the show (hopefully it's just a break) for we will miss him, greatly!

For some reason episodes of this show after Season 9 are really hard to find online (Netflix has 1-8). Amazon seems to have the most available episodes after Season 9. I really like all the detective pairs they have, they are all so different. Jeremy Sisto is great in the later ones and ofcourse theres Lenny!! Enjoy!!

What I find very frustrating is that all of a sudden upon watching season 17 (which I bought the entire season package) I pull up season 18 but it doesn't afford you the option to buy the entire season. Instead you have to buy each individual episode. The episode costs $1.99 SD or $2.99 HD. Even if you opt for the cheaper $1.99 you pay more then you would generally pay for a package price. Also there were 4-5 episodes that were marked "unavailable". What the hell does that mean? Why is it unavailable? It just doesn't make any sense to me. Why allow people to be able to buy entire seasons and then just change to having to buy per episode (while omitting some episodes by making them unavailable).

Great writing. Great stories. Great acting. TV series don't last 20 seasons without good reason. I think the realism (few completely fictional plots) keeps us talking and coming back for more.

This was a good episode. It did try to keep you guessing until the end but I knew what would happen. It couldn't have turned out any other way
