5.0 out of 5 stars If You Come Across It, Pick it Up, July 24, 2006

A beautiful and, unfortunately, under appreciated CD. The fact that it seems to be out of print right now is absurd. Like a relative of Joni Mitchell's 'Hejira'. Personal, introspective, insightful, accessible, with a sound that's all it's own. Reflecting on middle age, love, relationships and life. It plays like a road album and has a transporting, almost hypnotic quality. Put it on and immerse in it's spell. It's like a woman driving through her life and this is what she sees right now, and part of what makes it special is it's a smart individual at the wheel.

An excellent album. The songs are all slow and heartfelt --they linger in the aural memory. Good for quite time.

An excellent (one of her best) CD. Overlooked by many, but a classic heartfelt story of love, life, and being.

5.0 out of 5 stars New Driver, March 1, 2008

Driver so impressed the music critics it was Top Ten-ed all around, and nominated for a Juno Award. (From a view north of the 49th parallel, the Grammys are the American Juno Awards.) Here is feeling music, searching, yearning, wistful, and finally peaceable music. Driver is autobiography back then and who's-knows-when and timeless peering ahead. It's existentialist wonderment for the rest of us ordinary mortals. Annie Dillard's phrase, "holiness holds forth in time" comes to mind and we're all the better for it. I suppose if you had to choose one so far, Driver is the CD to get and give. For sure it seems to me to be among Ferron's personal favorites. The new edition features never-before-published photographs in an attractive design and format as a visually cohesive match with the newly re-released CD Testimony (2007, Fair n' Lovin Music). More of her back catalogue is promised to be coming down the 'pike. It is an affirming joy to have Ferron's masterworks back in print and also available from Ladyslipper Music and ferrononline.com.
