1.0 out of 5 stars Fun game, incomplete book...., December 6, 1999

This book is unfinished. I have seen other books from the same publisher that also have been incomplete. Beware of GW Press. Your best bet is find COMPLETE guides for FREE on the web.

2.0 out of 5 stars An official guide that's officially incomplete, August 6, 1999
This review is from: Driver Strategy Guide (Paperback)
This guide at first appeared as excellent as the game itself, but as I got more into the game with it, it lost much of its luster. The best part about the book is the way in which the mission tree is laid out for you (thus you know when to save your game, and how many times to do so, in order to play all of the missions). The problem is, towards the end of the book, a couple of the missions are completely missing from the guide! That's inexcusable for an official guide from the same makers of the game itself. As far as strategies go, they're just OK; nothing written here is not anything that you would not have thought of to do. It's basically elaborating for you your mission goals and attaching them to tiny, all-very-similar-looking screenshots. Even a bunch of the time limits you get on the mission runs are inaccurate. A small hand-drawn map showing the best route or the numerous alleyways would have been a very welcome feature. Much of the guide is filler with background art and wasted space, and that's never a good thing. If there was so much room left over, more time could have been devoted to the driving games that are separate from the missions. All that is mentioned about those is rehashed information from the instruction booklet. The cheats for the game are not listed in the guide either. You are better off with an FAQ or for this one, folks.
