One of the best travel gems!,
This review is from: Driving and Discovering Oahu (Driving and Discovering Books) (Paperback)
Where was this book when I was planning my trip to Oahu?? I actually ran across it upon my return and immediately ordered it to plan my next trip. This is one of the most concise and easiest guidebooks I have ever seen! It actually doubles as a great coffee table book loaded with gorgeous pictures and information on every area on the island. The book literally takes you on a tour around Oahu, dividing the island's shores beginning with the South Shore. Filled with graphic organizers of parks in that particular shore to weather-it is handy to glance for quick info. A detailed description of sites accompany pictures and info on traveling. There is just so much info jammed in the pages, it is hard to list all of it but it is organized neatly! The maps are right on the money!

The only guide you need!,

My husband and I had previously visited Oahu with our parents and done the usual Waikiki Beach/Pearl Harbor routine that all tourists seem to do. Our decision to go back to Oahu for our honeymoon was based entirely on this fantastic book. It showed us how much we had missed on our previous trips. Instead of spending a week on crowded Waikiki Beach, we spent our time on beautiful remote beaches or hiking through the jungle to a waterfall. This book has info that no other guide has. Every location has color pictures and a detailed map on how to get there. This book made our trip to Oahu our best vacation ever. Don't bother buying any other guide.

This book is the perfect get around guide to Oahu,
By David Betancourt (Blandon, PA United States) - See all my reviews

If you are going to go to Oahu, there are two things you must have... a rental car and this book. Honolulu is is crowded and congested. Walk the strip of Waikiki, make the International Market Place the first place you stop on your trip (get your Aloha atire) and last things you do on your trip, (get your souviners) and then spend the rest of your trip outside of Honolulu. (Of course, if you like hookers and drugdealers, spend your nights in Chinatown.)This book is structured very well. You can seach this book by beaches, shore lines, trails, waterfalls, or uninhabitted islands. Almost anything that is worth seeing, is in this book. The Lonely Planet has an Oahu book that is a great conterpart to this one. Pick up both of these books, and you will be ready for your trip!

Don't leave for Oahu without this book!,

This is the best guidebook for touring Oahu that I have seen. Oahu receives millions of tourists each year. This guidebook will give you detailed driving or bus directions to many off the beaten path places you will have to yourself. I found the driving directions easy to follow. The book also shows beautiful, full color photographs of different places around the island to visit. As an added bonus, the author shows you on his maps exactly where he took those photos. This book will show you a side of Oahu that most tourists miss. You will not regret purchasing this book.

Fun & useful! Perfect island road safari.,
This review is from: Driving & Discovering Oahu Hawaii (Paperback)
This is a fun guide to some great spots on the island of Oahu. We used the accurate maps in favor of a more detailed, but bulky, road map. It was like having a friend with us who was pointing out neat routes and points of interest. It really made our trip interesting and allowed us to take full advantage of having a car. Even after the trip, we enjoy looking up where we visited and sharing the details with friends.
I recommend this as part of your travel kit for Oahu. Most guides are too general to Hawaii or too specific to Honolulu, but this one focuses so nicely on the entire island of Oahu and the highlights! It was also nice to use when we decided to have Hawaii movie night since the book notes where movies were filmed.

Hawaii in Living Color,
By A Customer
This review is from: Driving and Discovering Oahu (Driving and Discovering Books) (Paperback)
For almost the same price as the Revealed (Reviled) books, this gorgeous book has what it takes for touring Oahu. When folks come to visit they hole up in a big comfy chair with the book and then decide where they want to go. Pearl Harbor is always first on their list and then the Polynesian Cultural Center. The photography is unparalleled and the quality way better than any other guidebook on the market. They've kept the price low and affordable for most visitors and it makes a nice keepsake.

Superb Guidebook,

I just got off the plane last night from a week in Oahu. We found this book on the coffee table in the house we rented on Lanikai Beach and it was our constant companion in our explorations of this stunning Island. I've been all over the world, used a lot of guidebooks, and this is the most beautiful one I've ever come across in terms of pictorial content, maps, and graphics. Even if you never go to Oahu, this makes a lovely coffee table book. Anyone contemplating a visit should take a look at the book, it will firm up their resolve to get over to Hawaii!

A great read; especially for first time visitors to this location. We found this book extremely beneficial in planning our daily activities. The author gives candid descriptions and excellent insights, while telling you honestly the best and the not so good places to visit. Following the books' suggestions you can make a wonderful circle around the island and not miss any of the spectacular offerings. A must read prior to and during your trip.

The Best Guide...PERIOD,
By
This review is from: Driving and Discovering Oahu (Driving and Discovering Books) (Paperback)
I brought several guides and map books on m latest trip to Oahu, including this one. After the first day, the other books were thrown in the back seat, while this one became my constant traveling companion. It got me to the places I wanted to go, with very little hassle. One of the best parts of the book showed the easiest ways to manuver your way around the H1 highway into Waikiki. It also showed you the best places for photos. This is truly the only guide you will need when in Oahu.

Truly Outstanding,

This review is from: Driving and Discovering Oahu (Driving and Discovering Books) (Paperback)
I'd always dreamed about living in Hawaii and now I do. I credit this guide for starting the process. When I went for the first time in January I had no idea there would be so many "drop-dead-beautiful" areas other than Waikiki. Driving and Discovering opened up a whole new world for me. It's a guidebook and a necessity for driving around. A dream and drool book. I leave it out on my coffee table for guests to enjoy. It's worth every penny and I rate it definitely outstanding in every category. |
