Not as helpful as I had hoped,

This review is from: Driving Horses (Horse Lovers' Library) (Paperback)
This book does have an interesting chapter regarding the history of driving, which I enjoyed. However, I was hoping to use this book to help me learn the basics of training my horse to drive, and was disappointed. Unfortunately for me, the author is English, and therefore uses many terms regarding both the horse and the harness which I am unfamiliar with.

High end skills,

This little book is a great reference for learning the correct names and uses for the equipment. There are chapters dedicated to the problems you will encounter in training a horse to drive and the obsticles you will encounter. Driving a single, double, and tandum are all covered as well as the equipment and problems of each. What you should consider if planning on showing and purchasing your own vehicle are gone over with detail. This is a BEGINNING guide and you really will need an experienced horseman to work with you. Don't set your expectations that you can go it alone safely with a backyard horse of minimal training and you will be fine.
