4.0 out of 5 stars California's Coastal Communities: Coronado to Crescent City
Although the book has the word "driving" in the title, it really is not a road guide to California's Pacific Coast. Instead, this nice little travel book covers smaller coastal communities where one can visit for a weekend and take a break from the hustle and bustle of life. 2.0 out of 5 stars Not informative enough
This book just doesn't have enough info to make a purchase worthwhile. Very generic info - very limited suggestions for activities - restaurants - places to stay etc. I would not bother to buy it - just not worth it.

Although the book has the word "driving" in the title, it really is not a road guide to California's Pacific Coast. Instead, this nice little travel book covers smaller coastal communities where one can visit for a weekend and take a break from the hustle and bustle of life. Of the many towns listed, only San Diego is a large metropolitan area. For the most part, readers are treated to towns such as San Clemente, Laguna Beach, Pismo Beach, Monterey, and numerous smaller communities like Shelter Cove, Bodega Head, and Trinidad.

On the whole, this is a decent little guidebook. Each destination is given a page or two describing the area, a list of lodging and campgrounds, diners and fine restaurants, and descriptions of nearby beaches and parks. Local activities and festivals are also listed for each location and rough price guides are given to help budget for the trip. I would like to have seen more attention given to state parks and beaches, and a little more natural history and photographs. But this guide does what it sets out to do and I will use it as a resource on my next trip along the coast.
