Verified Purchase
Update 6/18/2012

Whoever read my review, I strongly recommend to take driving lessons with professional instructor (I checked DMV's website and chose school based on reviews and price). Forget about hassles with this useless simulator. I got my license after 15 hours of driving sessions with instructor. The package for 10 hrs is $350 in my area, Alexandria, VA, not too expensive. That includes insurance and pick up/drop off from my home. The car is 2011 Honda Civic and instructor has break and mirror on her side. The felling of break/accelerator from real car is totally different from USB steering wheel I bought for this simulator. Besides, you'll need to check mirrors often and you cannot get that experience from this simulator. Checking mirrors is very important, especially on highways when changing lanes. Make a habit of checking over your shoulder for blind spots.

I did not learn parallel parking properly as my instructor did not teach me well... she said it would not be on DMV test. But I learned it from Youtube (google easiest parallel parking) [...]
I watched that clip a few times and went well for my first parallel parking. Amazon also sells DVD version: Parking Tutorial: All-in-one Parking Methods. Learn to Drive and Prepare for a Driving Test! The First Instructional DVD About Car Parking Ever Made!. Parallel parking is a MUST when you drive in DC or any other cities where parking is very limited.

I did have fear before and earlier part of driving sessions but I got confidence after 8 hrs.

I'm not really sure where to start.

There are absolutely no yield signs, the 'highway' is just two lanes each side, with the smallest ever merging and acceleration ramp lane ever, turning the steering wheel jerks it too easily and the only urban area you can drive in is an extremely small town. A few assorted houses and one parking lot are all it offers, and I honestly do not know why others love this product. Maybe its good for those who haven't simulated driving before, but not for those who have already gotten behind the wheel. There is barely any traffic and the only use I can see for this game is just giving me space to practice parking (Which i can do in other games as well). The game doesn't even give you a gps or an ingame map, and if you turn right on red after stopping and checking it counts it as crossing illegally on red even though its legal in North America. The car quickly dies out of gas after a while or something because in the middle of the game the vehicle engine stops and never turns on again if you get into an accident or reset your position, and as such youd have to restart the game. You might remember to always signal and check from this game, but thats about it.

The company does not give refunds (I don't know how it works on Amazon though), and so I pretty much wasted 83 dollars (75 for the game and 8 for shipping, you cant choose the shipping on their site) in a product that alot of reviews on here hyped up. I wish I knew that this game was severely lacking, and that the company did not offer refunds.

GTA IV ironically is a much better driving simulator than this. Anyways, im contacting other companies that sell driving simulators for pcs and seeing what they sell them for, hopefully they're better.

This is a wonderful program for anyone learning to drive or just brushing up on the basics. It's not like those games that give you points for each person you run over; this is real world functionality and consequences.
The 3d graphics are good enough to give you the feel of driving on a real street, without being so overloaded as to kill your computer trying to run it; and that's good, you don't have to have a gaming computer to run this - anyone can use it, any time, in the convenience of their own home.

I have some family members with kids who are getting to the age where they're driving; and I'm definitely recommending this program to them. They wont have to worry about their car getting wrecked as their kids learn to drive, they wont have to pay a fortune and gas for extra practice trips; and they'll have the peace of mind that their kids can make mistakes and learns from them, without being in any real danger. They can also practice driving in conditions that you can't anticipate, but are necessary skills - like driving through in-climate weather. You can't plan to practice those skills, but it's important for any driver to be accustomed to driving and with SimuRide Home Edition, you practice driving in bad weather, or at night, even when the sun is shinning bright outside; and that's a great option to have.

I also like the bonus program that comes with this latest edition of SimuRide; Road Rules, which is a study/review program that helps prepare for the written exam. Since you can select different areas of the US or Canada, to take region specific practice exams, this could really come in handy for people taking trips out of state, or even going between the two countries; so you can get familiar with the different traffic laws you might encounter.
