I've been using Android since the very first T-Mobile G1 and the Droid 2 is my third Android phone. Despite my years of experience with Android, I learned a few things from the book, especially on how best to use the voice recognition features (e.g., double-tap the Home button to get instant access to voice commands) and on keyboard shortcuts (Search-B calls up the browser; Search-G zaps you into Gmail).

There is a great section on using the Droid 2 as a music player.

A lot of the software that people want or need to use with Android is not available for the Macintosh operating system. The author does a great job of suggesting work-arounds for Macintosh owners.

The book is essentially for anyone new to Android and, due to its easy-to-skim design, valuable for experienced Android/Droid 2 users. Well worth the modest Amazon discounted price.

Thanks for using my home town NFL team on the cover! But, really, Pogue has created another masterpiece. This title makes you want to go out and buy a Droid. Droid vs. iPhone. Or, Blackberry!

Since Droid phone sales are climbing to the levels of Blackberry and iPhone, it makes sense to pick up a title like this one to research the best smartphone technology out there. Don't you think?

I, for one, want a communication device. One that won't drop calls. One that will deliver text messages and other tools of communication. I don't care much for the junk that is available for smartphones. Anyway, the Droid is a player and this text proves it. And, it's good reading...

I recently acquired a Verizon Global Droid after many years of getting a new cell phone every 2 - 3 years. This book is in easy to understand terms, enabling me to save time in learning the multitude of applications that the Droid (it is not just a cell phone) is capable of doing. If you want to save time in learning what the Droid can do for you, how to use it, and making it more than just talking and texting - move up into the now age of having a computer at your fingertips. Having the book was a small investment with a large return of "knowledge gained" and time saved.
