The Droll Yankees Seed Saver Domed Bird Feeder is perfect for songbirds. This feeder features a large, 10 inch dome that serves to protect the feeder tray from squirrels, undesirable birds, and the elements. The unique versatility of this feeder allows you to limit the access of undesirable squirrels and birds by adjusting the distance between the dome and feeder tray. Move the dome closer to the dish and the feeder becomes songbird selective. The 7 inch diameter feeder tray is 2 inches deep and will accommodate a virtually endless variety of bird foods including seed, suet, and table scraps. Simply slide the feeder dome up the included hanging rod or unscrew the feeder tray for quick and easy cleaning and filling. The feeder dome and tray are clear plastic to keep the birds and the seed level visible at all times while the hanging rod is brass. This feeder may be hung with the included 10.75 inch hanging rod or pole mounted using any pole with a 3/4 inch threaded adaptor (1/2 inch pipe thread). Made in the U.S.A. Lifetime Guarantee.

I have had a Droll Yankee X-1 Seed Saver feeder for five years. It can be filled with any feed, and it's style is suitable for attracting a variety of birds. It is easy to clean, and what impressed me most was it's durabilty. In several high wind storms it was blown off of its shepherd hook, falling ten feet to the ground and not cracking.I would recommend this feeder to all birding enthusiasts.

I had an umbrella bird feeder which my birds loved. But as with all things, it broke. I purchased the Droll Yankees covered feeder to replace the old one. The birds love this as well. The second day it was hung, we had a storm and as I had not tightly secured the feeder cup, it fell off onto some rocks in my garden. Not a scratch, ding, or crack could I find on the cup. This time I secured it tightly and it has been hanging as it should. I like this feeder and would purchase another if needed, and I would recommend it to a friend.

I have had one of these bird feeders for many years, and as "Customer" said 8 years ago, it survived many wind storms that threw it to the ground. Unfortunately, it fell in a big storm last week, and a large piece of plastic broke out of the dome. I am delighted to find this on Amazon, since my Wild Bird Center, where I bought the first one, no longer has them. I may buy two, to have one in reserve. I especially like the adjustable dome, which allows some control over the size of the birds that have access. It is true, however, as the other reviewer, Mr. Cummens, says, that the dome is not a good squirrel baffle. I have always hung this under a large flat baffle,which not only keeps the squirrels out but also provides extra protection from rain and snow for the invited diners. This is also easy to wash up. Its only slight defect is that the drainage holes in the bottom of the tray are exactly the right size for a wet piece of white millet to plug up. But hey.

P.S. Amazon raised the price on this by $10 one week after I wrote the above. So I don't think I'm gonna buy two!
