I have had a Droll Yankee X-1 Seed Saver feeder for five years. It can be filled with any feed, and it's style is suitable for attracting a variety of birds. It is easy to clean, and what impressed me most was it's durabilty. In several high wind storms it was blown off of its shepherd hook, falling ten feet to the ground and not cracking.I would recommend this feeder to all birding enthusiasts.

I had an umbrella bird feeder which my birds loved. But as with all things, it broke. I purchased the Droll Yankees covered feeder to replace the old one. The birds love this as well. The second day it was hung, we had a storm and as I had not tightly secured the feeder cup, it fell off onto some rocks in my garden. Not a scratch, ding, or crack could I find on the cup. This time I secured it tightly and it has been hanging as it should. I like this feeder and would purchase another if needed, and I would recommend it to a friend.

I have had one of these bird feeders for many years, and as "Customer" said 8 years ago, it survived many wind storms that threw it to the ground. Unfortunately, it fell in a big storm last week, and a large piece of plastic broke out of the dome. I am delighted to find this on Amazon, since my Wild Bird Center, where I bought the first one, no longer has them. I may buy two, to have one in reserve. I especially like the adjustable dome, which allows some control over the size of the birds that have access. It is true, however, as the other reviewer, Mr. Cummens, says, that the dome is not a good squirrel baffle. I have always hung this under a large flat baffle,which not only keeps the squirrels out but also provides extra protection from rain and snow for the invited diners. This is also easy to wash up. Its only slight defect is that the drainage holes in the bottom of the tray are exactly the right size for a wet piece of white millet to plug up. But hey.

P.S. Amazon raised the price on this by $10 one week after I wrote the above. So I don't think I'm gonna buy two!

It works really great. The dome adjusts up and down so that large birds and squirrels can not get in. The food is also protected from the weather.

I bought two of these feeders . They are much more expensive at other places online. You can put any kind of seed in them,even chopped up suet which is great for winter. The squirrels still manage to get into them ,but they have an adjustable dome,so am still working on the right height to keep squirrels and bigger birds out.

Very well made and attractive product, but the birds didn't like the dome since it reduced the number of approach paths they could take. Without the dome, it works fine--until it rains. If you have different species, it may work very well for you. Cardinals, Carolina Chickadees, and Mourning Doves all did not care for the dome, even when they had a week or more to acclimate to it.

This is a different style feeder than others I have. It is good for small birds. Seeds stay dry even in rainy weather.

So far, I'm very pleased with it. It spills a lot less seed on our deck than our old one, although I could wish it held a little more seed and was easier to fill. The birds seem to like it too. It seems solidly constructed and it's attractive. I'd recommend it.

I am diabled for a while so I put the bird feeder where I would see it a lot. What a joy to see bird enjoying the seeds.

THE FEEDER NEEDS A LARGER DOME TO KEEP SQUIRRELS FROM GETTING TO THE SEEDS. OTHERWSE I LIKE THE TRAY CONCEPT.
