I didn't know how much there was to learn about drones before I read this book. It was informative, interesting and comprehensive. A must-read if you want to understand both how the United States is using drone warfare today and the issues raised by its targeted-killing program.

Drones, on the one hand, are just a more sophisticated form of warfare, safer for the attacker, than what has gone before. They do, however, create their own peculiar dangers and threaten to become ever more dangerous as countries other than the United States start using them. We would all do well to understand their potential sooner rather than later.
Knowledge, it is said, is power. If so, this book places a great deal of power in the hands of the reader and Tom Hayden, in the concluding essay, suggests just how that power can be used to stop the cancerous spread of drones before it metastasizes to the point where we cannot turn back. The crucial messages conveyed by the book are that the use of drones threaten us all and that we can do something about them.

Marjorie Cohn has made an outstanding contribution to our understanding of the use of drones
in the war on terror. It should reach the widest possible American audience so that the
American people can fully weigh the costs and alleged benefits from the use of drones to
engage in extra judicial killing in impoverished and struggling countries around the world.
Her selection of contributors on the legal, moral and geopolitical consequences of the use
of drones was a major accomplishment in this fact filled volume which is sure to have a
major and compelling impact.

This book provides valuable information on an issue that is becoming more significant every day. Although it primarily addresses the use and misuse of weaponized drones by the US government, it also gives the reader a "heads up" about drone issues that may affect our daily lives in the near future. If you want to stay ahead of the curve on the drone issue, this book is a must read.

This is a terrific book. The chapters are easy to read and full of great information. It helps us understand drones and enables us to talk with our friends about them. I am grateful to all the contributors and, especially, to Marjorie Cohn for putting it together.

This book provides an excellent account of an important public topic. It maps the issues and problems and provides the background material for a comprehensive discussion of the drone program. A good start to bringing more transparency to a program where unsavory details and accountability issues are often missing from the public debate.

Clear, insightful and well-researched work. Everyone, whether pro or con, would do well to read this book because this a such a serious and topical issue. It seems that the apologists for drone warfare have played fast and loose with the facts and this book helps to set the record straight.
