Book Description

Welcome to a genteel world of pimento cheese finger sandwiches, tall libations in frosted glasses, stiletto heels, aging southern-belle sisterhood, and murder . . . In Dixie Divas, Trinket Truevine, her pal Bitty and their raucous divas friends in the historic small town of Holly Springs, Mississippi, solved the murder of Bitty's ex-senator husband, Phillip. Now, in Drop Dead Divas, the Divas are sleuthing again. Their pal Naomi Spencer has been accused of murdering her fiance, drag race champion Race Champion. Soon, Naomi turns up dead, too. Talk about a fly in the martini . . . Join the bawdy fun as Trinket, Bitty and the gang unravel another small-town mystery. Virginia Brown is the acclaimed author of more than fifty romance and mystery novels.

3.0 out of 5 stars Southern DIscomfort November 19, 2010
Format:Paperback
Apparently the small town of Holly Springs, Mississippi is not the place to live if you want to live. Bitty Hollandale and Trinket Truevine are members of a crazy group of 12 gals, called the Dixie Divas (or ditsy divas if you prefer) who seem to have a habit of solving murder mysteries.

In this light and fluffy book, the girls get involved in the murder of a race car driver, aptly named Race Champion. His fiancé is the main suspect until she turns up dead too! Getting themselves into and out of trouble seems to be a full time job for these friends, and the police sure don't want their help.

As the girls and their friends search for a killer, they end up to their necks in martinis and trouble. Throw into the mix a bad dog named Chen Ling, Bitty's dog, who is aka Chittling, a sex toy shop and picture of the small dog running down the street with a very large sex toy, and you will find yourself laughing until you feel the tears running down your cheeks. That scene alone was enough to make this read worthwhile.

Once again, this was the second in a series (dang it), so I may need to go to the library and find the first book.

Always remember, what happens in the Divas, stays in the Divas! Fluffy, simple, fun for a cold weekend!

I received this book from Net Galley for an honest review.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not to be read in public June 9, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Do not read this book in public, unless you think that it is totally fine to be a public exhibition as you burst into spontaneous and uncontrollable laughter while gasping for breath and having tears running down your face. "No, ma'am I am NOT having seizures!"

5.0 out of 5 stars So funny... September 12, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I have lived in the south for over 50 years and I know these ladies. I am 11% through with this book and it's hysterical. I especially love where Earl Grey and Jack Daniels come together at a nice afternoon tea in Limoges. I am laughing out loud at some of Bitty's antics. Bless her little ole heart.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun and Fantastic! June 7, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I picked it on a whim from the Sunshine Deals and after the first had to grab this one too! Cannot wait for the next one! Though still a decade away from my early 50's I absolutely love the series! The characters and story are enthralling. It's light enough for a spring or summer read. Makes me want to get a pedicure, prop my freshly painted toes up with a nice sweet tea on the back porch and read till the sun comes down. The Dixie Divas are a great new group to add to the Southern mystery lovers shelves! Cannot wait till Virginia Brown publishes a new one!

5.0 out of 5 stars Can't Wait for More December 30, 2010
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The Dixie Divas and Trinket Truvine are the most lovable bunch of woman I've had the pleasure of meeting in fiction. Virginia Brown has created a likable group of characters, including some wonderful canines, who get embroiled in some hilarious mysteries. If you liked Dixie Cash's amateur sleuths, you'll love Virginia Brown's, too. This is Nancy Drew all grown up and swigging mint juleps! Can't wait to read more.

5.0 out of 5 stars Drop Dead Divas win again! August 12, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This series is a mixture of mystery, comedy, and the value of good friendships. Virginia Brown does a great job of weaving all three concepts into a good/fun book. The books move right along and at the same time present a clear picture of what is happening. Keep 'em coming!
