Apparently the small town of Holly Springs, Mississippi is not the place to live if you want to live. Bitty Hollandale and Trinket Truevine are members of a crazy group of 12 gals, called the Dixie Divas (or ditsy divas if you prefer) who seem to have a habit of solving murder mysteries.

In this light and fluffy book, the girls get involved in the murder of a race car driver, aptly named Race Champion. His fiancé is the main suspect until she turns up dead too! Getting themselves into and out of trouble seems to be a full time job for these friends, and the police sure don't want their help.

As the girls and their friends search for a killer, they end up to their necks in martinis and trouble. Throw into the mix a bad dog named Chen Ling, Bitty's dog, who is aka Chittling, a sex toy shop and picture of the small dog running down the street with a very large sex toy, and you will find yourself laughing until you feel the tears running down your cheeks. That scene alone was enough to make this read worthwhile.

Once again, this was the second in a series (dang it), so I may need to go to the library and find the first book.

Always remember, what happens in the Divas, stays in the Divas! Fluffy, simple, fun for a cold weekend!

I received this book from Net Galley for an honest review.

Do not read this book in public, unless you think that it is totally fine to be a public exhibition as you burst into spontaneous and uncontrollable laughter while gasping for breath and having tears running down your face. "No, ma'am I am NOT having seizures!"

I picked it on a whim from the Sunshine Deals and after the first had to grab this one too! Cannot wait for the next one! Though still a decade away from my early 50's I absolutely love the series! The characters and story are enthralling. It's light enough for a spring or summer read. Makes me want to get a pedicure, prop my freshly painted toes up with a nice sweet tea on the back porch and read till the sun comes down. The Dixie Divas are a great new group to add to the Southern mystery lovers shelves! Cannot wait till Virginia Brown publishes a new one!

The Dixie Divas and Trinket Truvine are the most lovable bunch of woman I've had the pleasure of meeting in fiction. Virginia Brown has created a likable group of characters, including some wonderful canines, who get embroiled in some hilarious mysteries. If you liked Dixie Cash's amateur sleuths, you'll love Virginia Brown's, too. This is Nancy Drew all grown up and swigging mint juleps! Can't wait to read more.

I have lived in the south for over 50 years and I know these ladies. I am 11% through with this book and it's hysterical. I especially love where Earl Grey and Jack Daniels come together at a nice afternoon tea in Limoges. I am laughing out loud at some of Bitty's antics. Bless her little ole heart.

Drop Dead Divas opens with Bitty Hollandale shouting out an alliterative, slanderous insult about Naomi Spencer in a crowded café. After more slings and arrows, the two get into an altercation over Naomi's past relationship with Bitty's now-dead ex-husband. Soon after the chicken and dumpling slinging incident at Budgie's Café, Bitty receives a phone call from a fellow Diva - Naomi had been arrested for murder. The apparent murder victim is Naomi's fiancé, race car driver Race Champion.

When Naomi turns up dead and Bitty becomes a suspect, the Divas quickly put their amateur sleuthing skills to work to find out who is behind the murders. Unfortunately, they soon find their own lives in danger.

Bitty, her cousin and best friend Trinket, and another Diva are run off the road landing all three in the hospital. As soon as the three are released and on the mend, their lives are placed in further danger when they continue their quest to find the murderer.

Drop Dead Divas is the second novel in the Dixie Divas series by Virginia Brown. The series is quickly becoming known as a laugh-out-loud look into a world of small-town southern living that many of us can only imagine. Their gatherings are privately known for wine, chocolate, and great, bawdy fun. Reading about their hilarious escapades makes one want to be on the sidelines waiting to see what happens next - or right in the midst of the action!

Keeping the usual cast of characters from book to book brings continuity and keeps us long for more. The cast not only includes the twelve divas, but also Trinket's mom and dad who are enjoying their second childhood, super-sharp lawyer Jackson Lee Brunetti, and Trinket's friend Kit Coltrane.
