A drop of magic,
By Neil Green (Nashville, TN USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Drop of Water (Audio CD)
This is one of Keiko's earliest releases, if not the first. Despite this, it reveals her amazing musical talent, her unique piano playing, and her most distinct style that combines different musical influences. All of these attributes are carried into her later work too. About half of the songs in this CD contain lyrics, and most of these fall one notch below the others, thus 4 stars not 5. If you love music, you must know Keiko's brand.

Keiko Matsui: Drop of Water,

First let me apologize, as I won't rate anything with a perfect five stars. But to rate it at four stars is saying something. I really like Keiko's music. It is an easy listening mix of fusion and jazz. It is great to listen to when I want to unwind during a hectic day. I would recommend it to everyone who is tired of the funk that is being produced today that others call music. Matter of fact, I have recommended it to others and they have bought Keiko's music for themselves as well.

A talent whose music draws me in,

Keiko Matsui is a major player in contemporary pop/jazz/new age. She has a funky and lyrical approach that always surprises, especially in her later all-instrumental albums. She is tender, cheeky and deep.

I've only heard one song...,

I've only heard one song; "paper spirit", but that song is pretty good. I only gave the CD a three though because I don't want to judge before I've heard.
