An unenlightened opinion,

I'd heard only unmemorable snippits of this band before I heard "Schnitzel Boy" on the radio. It was enticingly clever, catchy, and comparatively hardcore, but I didn't know who the artist was. I searched and found it was by Consolidated, which surprised me because I thought they were strictly industrial, or at least more electronic. The whole album, while not quite as tight, is mostly very good harder rock with a mind behind it (again knowing nothing else by them) and an occasional dash of technology. It gets preachy, perhaps even heavy-handed, but that doesn't really detract from the sound. More power to them if they can make a musically-sound political album. All in all, this doesn't convince me to buy another album new, but it's a welcome addition to the collection (and should be in yours as well).

Consolidated's latest album. It's great but not as superb as the others. I was a little disappointed in it. Not the power that I expect from Consolidated. They seem to be missing something hmmm .......

This is the sixth release by Consolidated that I have listened to in the past couple of months. All the releases have something to offer, but I really think three of them are exceptional; "Friendly Fascism", "Business of Punishment", and now "Dropped".
On "Dropped", most of the audience banter is gone, and rap/techno beats are not as prevelant. But the musice is still politically aware and delivered with a funky vibe. I think the album has some weaker songs at the beginning, songs like "Schnitzel Boy" and "Coming of Rage" are not the best this CD has to offer. But I love everything after track six. I would pick "Headgear" as the best song, followed by "Recovered Memory", "I'm Sorry Mat", "Tin Man", "Craig", "Why Doesn't He Stop", and "Fractured Fairytales" among others. "Dropped" might well be my favorite album by "Consolidated". (But I have yet to hear anything released after this one).

Not that great - Stick with the first two,

I like Consolidated quite a bit - they're one of my favorite bands, in fact. However, this record is real garbage. With feverous anticipation I purchased it about six months ago, threw it on the cd player, listened for twenty minutes, and was disgusted. Stick with Business of Punishment (really really good) or Play more Music (almost equally as good with a great song done with the Yeasty Girls !)

As good as ever.,

Having listened to Consolidated for ten years (essentially as long as they've been a band) I was not prepared for the sonic nature or subject content of "Dropped." But I am a dedicated fan, as previous Consolidated albums have had such a profound impact on my life, so I listened closely and let "Dropped" slowly sink in. Now that my preconceptions of what a new Consolidated album "should" sound like have been dismissed, I find myself overwhelmed by the material on "Dropped." This album makes no attempt at re-creating the past. It simply moves the basic idea of Consolidated another step forward. The songwriting and instrumentation are very well done. Adam's guitar playing and vocals have really solidified; showing signs of a type of interspective maturity that to me seem like the most logical step for the band to take. Many other reviews of "Dropped" seem to dismiss the album as being "not as good as the others..." I think it is important to point out to these reviewers that they might simply have too many preconceptions to ever really understand what is being said within the songs on "Dropped." I would like to recommend to everyone who listens to this album to slow down and really listen. The ideals that have carried Consolidated for so many years are not only still there, they have also been elevated to the next logical level.
