Warning: may damage your clothes in front-loader
on September 13, 2011
I have a high-efficiency (HE) front-loader made by Whirlpool, purchased in 2009.
I have no argument with this detergent's cleaning ability, and you certainly can't beat the convenience.
BUT: in my Whirlpool front-loader, these pods failed to dissolve more than 50% of the time. Often I found sticky goo adhering to the rubber gasket; twice I found the undissolved pods deep inside the crevice of the door gasket. Even worse, the pods sometimes partially dissolve into fabric, and when this happens, it can ruin the garment. Since you are unlikely to notice that this has happened, you put the garment into your dryer, and the heat bakes the residue in permanently.
When I complained to Dropps, they were sympathetic but seemed puzzled that this could occur. They asked me to return the garments, which they cleaned. Meanwhile, I discovered independently that boiling water poured over damaged garments helped, though it did not solve the problem.
But none of this was terribly convenient, and for a premium-priced convenience product, I rate it as a failure for machines similar to mine.
