I really love these,

For context: I have a HE front-loader.
There's a couple of obvious groups where this is a no-brainer. People who live in apartments or otherwise have to carry detergent. People who like to have some when they travel. People who are disabled or otherwise have trouble manipulating a big heavy container or measuring. For me, for daily use, most of that doesn't apply. But it's still nice when you're in a rush just to chuck in one of these and throw in the clothes and hit start and run back to the baby before she explodes. And it does work really well - one pouch always does the job, even though the package recommends two for larger loads. Maybe that's a HE thing, maybe that's because I pre-treat anything really nasty (i.e. dump on some conventional cleaner and vaugely rub it and chuck it in. I suspect I should be doing a better job of that but it works OK). I've used both the scented and unscented. My preference is for the scent/dye free versions but they both clean the same.

A small revolution in the laundry room,

These little water-soluable packets of concentrated laundry detergent may change the way you do laundry forever. Dropps comes in three forms -- this scent and dye free version, a "fresh scent" version that is very lightly scented, and a gentle "baby" version for, well, baby clothes and diapers one would assume. In place of big boxes of laundry powder and plastic jugs of laundry liquid, you will have one resealable plastic pouch with a few dozen tiny clear pillows filled with detergent concentrate, clear (for the dye and scent free) or a pale blue (for the "fresh scent") -- kind of like plump see-through detergent ravioli. Keep the plastic pouch sealed to keep moisture out, and do not handle the little pillows with wet hands, or you will soon find them dissolving inside the pouch before you use them.
The detergent is low suds but effective. You will want to keep a concentrated laundry booster around (like oxy-clean) and liquid bleach for whites. Other than that, the "Dropps" are all you need: one for a small load; two for a large or especially dirty load. And no more will you wind up accidentally overdoing the liquid or powdered laundry detergent and finding suds spewing out of your washer. Imagine if that vast array of jugs and boxes of "new and improved, super duper economy size" laundry detergents that fill a long aisle of shelves in your local grocery store were replaced with a small collection of Dropps laundry packs. That would eliminate a whole lot of wasted space and packaging no one really needs. Get rid of the clutter in your own laundry room at home and start using these.

Pack smells like rubbing alcohol and left spots on clothes,

Although these were great for the kids to be able to help do the laundry (no measuring and pouring liquid), there is an overwhelming smell of rubbing alcohol from the packets. They also left spots on our clothes (like oil spots). Would not recommend.

I've been using Dropps laundry Pacs for almost two years now, starting when I bought a new High Energy Washer. They make everything simple: easy to store, easy to use, and work great. I like the "scent and dye free" best but both work well, and I receive them via Amazon's Subscribe & Save option. How easy is that!!! I hope I never have to use anything else!!!

Talk about convenient! 4 packs last 6 months for 2 of us here. I use Amazon's Subscribe & Save to send every 6 months to save even more. Absolutely no scent to these. They recommend using 2 for a large load but we use 1 and it cleans great. When you toss it into the washer you think can these things really clean that well?
Tide and All is what we no longer use and these work as good if not better. You should also know we use cold water for everything except for our whites. They dissolve in a matter of minutes even in cold water and no mess or empty bottle to throw out after it has been used. They also recommend using something else to treat stains...but so far it seems to take everything out just fine. I really hope to see these in Target. People are going to love these. Try them out you will be glad you did.

Economical, "Green" and Easy-to-carry!,

I love these laundry pacs! Not only do they clean my clothes *brilliantly*, it's nice to not have to schlepp a huge, heavy, messy detergent container to the laundromat. It costs me about $0.30/ load with one pac; If something is really soiled I'll use 2, but it's not necessary. The pacs are more economical and clean much better than any other 'concentrated' detergent I've tried, and my usually-finicky-sensitive-skin has no qualms. It's merely an added 'feel-good' to know that I'm also reducing the 'collective carbon footprint'.

good for the environment and your clothes,

I like everything about Dropps! They clean great, and leave laundry soft. I was surprised that these tiny pacs can do such a good job. They are perfect for those who are sensitive to scents or other additives. They have no phosphates or enzymes, a plus for the environment, as is the packaging. It takes up less space in the laundry room and makes less trash. You just toss it in the washing machine and it dissolves completely. You can take them when you travel (I use them when we go camping). And it works well in all temperatures, an energy saving bonus. They also come in a scented variety, if allergies are not a problem for you.

Great idea, but leaves white residue all over my clothes,
This review is from: Dropps Laundry Pacs, Scent + Dye Free, 42-load pouch (pack of 2) (Health and Beauty)
I love the idea, individual-load packets whose exterior dissolves in the water. The problem is that, at least for me when using cold water, the residue from the pouch leaves an impossible-to-get-off lint-like fine-particle residue on a lot of the clothes. It makes it look like I've rubbed up against dusty shelves or just got had ashes touch my clothes. In short, the clothes may smell fresh, but look like they need washed again! Perhaps this problem doesn't arise with warmer water? All I can say is don't get it if you use cold water, stick to liquid detergent.

Not bad for a little package,
By Word Wise "otherwise" (McLean, VA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Dropps Laundry Pacs, Scent + Dye Free, load pouch (Health and Beauty)
I got dropps on a whim. I was sick of the big jugs of laundry detergent. Thought it would be good and handy. Was skeptical that they would actually work. With two active children (ready muddy monsters) I was amazed at how well the detergent did work. One time I accidentally dropped two packets in the wash. It did no better than the one packet. It makes me think how much detergent I have been wasting over the years.
So the positives: small package, easy to use (one hand is all you need, just make sure your hand is dry!), works well, better for the environment, no dyes or perfumes (personal preference). The only negative is you must keep it away from water. The water soluable packs get wet and start breaking down and get really gummy.

this laundry product is the best thing ever invented. a small pac, packs a powerful detergent that washes your clothes to perfection.
no additives are needed, as a rule, like bleach, or stain removals, etc. can also be used in low suds type washers. absolutely, no waste, the packets comes in a heavy weight plastic bag. it is so light-weight,stores in a small space, and would be IDEAL, for anyone using a laundromat. my supply is shipped automatically on a schedule chosen by me, with a cost savings- discount offered by amazon.com |
