Biography

Originally, Dashboard Confessional was Chris Carrabba’s side project while he was with Further Seems Forever. Indeed, the first acoustic album, Swiss Army Romance (2000) was essentially a solo effort, but a full band was in place by the gold-certified follow-up, The Places You Have Come to Fear the Most (2001). After releasing a platinum album in the successful MTV Unplugged series in 2002, the… Read more in Amazon's Dashboard Confessional Store

4.0 out of 5 stars Very, very good, June 30, 2003
This review is from: The Drowning (EP) (Audio CD)
Sure, it's short and has only three songs, but it's very good! The songs:

Drowning: I think it's a little weak in vocals, but I still really like it. Fave lyrics: Are you drowning your fears/in a glass of deception?/When everything's hazy/Everything will be OK.
Anyone, Anyone: Good, better vocally than Drowning in my opinion. Good lines: "I can't see how the way that you leave me alone makes us close."
For Justin: A very sweet song: "It's been a year now since you were here now/And I've been trying to heal inside/Dedications of how I placed/And I see your resemblance in my face/And our birthday I said an extra wish for you."

It receives only four songs simply because of it's short lenghth; otherwise it's good.

3.0 out of 5 stars I must go along with the crowd, June 22, 2002
This review is from: The Drowning (EP) (Audio CD)
This EP is pretty good, especially song #3. My biggest problem is that the cd is so very short that it is not worth the money unless you are a big follower of his music like myself. The quality of the songs are a little rough around the edges especially the first song. But not bad for his first solo project. For those of you new to Dashboard, it is just Chris Carrabas(the singer) and his guitar. He evokes such emotions with his amazing voice, that you just about cry right when you hear the songs. This is a classic example of emo/indie rock. This is mostly slower music and would not recommend this to anyone who is just interested in pop or punk but emo punks should enjoy. You may also recognize his voice from a band called Further Seems Forever, an emo/punk band he used to belong to before he went solo. Further Seems Forever's album is also amazing and recommend it to anyone who likes Dashboard. I also recommend any new comers to Dashboard to start with Swiss Army Romance, his first full length album, instead of The Drowning EP.

4.0 out of 5 stars Deliriously Dashboard, March 25, 2002

This review is from: The Drowning (EP) (Audio CD)
It's not my favorite dashboard cd, but it's more than worth the money spent, if you're a true dashboard fan. Someone newer to the greatness that is Dashboard Confessional might want to check out Swiss Army Romance either first or as well as The Drowning. The album itself has some very good qualities to it, and the vocals are as sweet as ever. Whether you've been with it from the beginning or you've just heard a song on the radio and you'd like to hear more, I highly recomend buying both this CD and the So impossible EP, both are well worth the cost and compliment each other perfectly.
