I am not a music critic, and I am not going to try and start now. This is my first mp3 purchase, and I figured what a better way to do it then by supporting Reznor's new project.

The reasons for buying the single is two part. One, Trent Reznor respects his fans who have been there with him every step of the way. TR always puts out quality product, and gives you bang for your buck. If you ever need any proof of how hard this man works, check out the live DVD's "Beside You In Time", and "All That Could Have Been." Clearly TR is one of the hardest working men in show business, as well as his various band cohorts through all of various eras of NIN. The second reason I bought this single is very simple, I love Trent Reznor's music, and anything he creates, with his various partners. To put it bluntly, I enjoy giving my money to TR Inc, he is similar to Kevin Smith the director in that vein. Both men respect the audience, and in return the audience respects them.

So to Atticus Ross, Mariqueen Maandig Reznor, Trent Reznor, thanks for the good tune. I look forward to the full album, and subsequent releases.

I'm biased. Trent Reznor is my favorite musician so anything he makes is gold. But if you like softer songs with mainly piano and female vocals, this is for you. The sound textures in the song make it stand out and might help ease listeners into the rest of the HTDA Ep, which is amazing by the way.

If this is where Trent is taking us with his new band "project", I'm digging it. Sounds nailsy ala Trent, but with Mariqueen Maandig on vocals, we are taken somewhere previously untouchable. IMHO

This, frankly is progress in my book. I can't wait to hear the rest of the album which supposedly comes out this summer.

Those lyrics don't appear in the song, but I had an uncontrollable BM when I heard this, hence the stains.
Yeah, it sounds a little recycled, well maybe a lot... But it really doesn't matter to me, because what does sound recylced are just elements that I usually want to listen to over and over again,so in that case I find my self listening to it over and over.
I like Mrs. Reznor's voice, yes it's a little monotone, but if Trent was singing it himself, I really don't see it being that different, and female vocals lend something new to the sound. And as for Atticus Ross. I hated Book of Eli the movie, but I listened to the soundtrack, pretty much the whole way on a 24hr flight back to Iraq, Ross' sound and Reznor's are very much alike, so from that perspective I get a double serving of the sounds I love.

I will admit I like the Space Between a little better, but either way the lyrics for both are awesome, and I can't wait for the E.P.

I wasn't too sure about all of the short teaser snippets but this song has sold me. I love all the layers, this description was posted on ninwiki:

"This is the only known version, primarily driven by a dark but relaxed synth bassline and beat loop, similar to the approach of the verses in "The Wretched." Piano provides the dominant melodic content behind the vocals, while heavily processed guitars provide atmosphere during the choruses, which also feature a different bassline. Dissonant horn samples form a bridge from the first chorus to the second verse, while the last three minutes of the song are dedicated to a distorted guitar riff joining the layered, processed guitars and chorus bassline. Mariqueen handles all of the vocals in the track, singing in quiet, reserved tones, and layering wordless melodies over the coda, which filters down the guitar layers to leave the piano line repeating the chorus chord progression as accompaniment to non-chordal notes."

I remember Trent mentioning years ago wanting to do a NIN-like project with a female vocalist. I never thought it would see the light of day since his collaborations with her died with her (RIP).
I am loving the first single and even though critics will say it's just NIN with a female vocalist. Just like Saul William's latest album was just a NIN record with Saul singing/rapping on it that is where the beauty lies. I love Trent's intricate productions and lush environments of sound he creates on his albums. I love that his influence and sound has expanded to other artists and am eagerly awaiting HDA's debut.

The vocals on this single are horrible and uninspired. It is obvious that Trent Reznor is trying to hand his new wife a career she could not obtain on her own. There is a reason that she could not obtain it on her own, she has no talents as a musician or vocalist. Trent maybe able to hand some of his fan base to his own personal Yoko, but not this fan.

Been listening to his music since cassette release of PHM and am thrilled and honored to see a double Reznor release. If you download and steal music without paying for it , please contribute since Trent has done so much for his hardcore, and new fans. Thank you Mariqueen Maandig Reznor and everyone else that contributed. Lunaticckk.
