4.0 out of 5 stars Great: BUT WHERES POPCORN!
This album is Ok but would have been great if they put "Popcorn" on it. It was in the movie-alotta people like it-wheres it on the soundtrack? Anyone who buys this has to get "Popcorn" by Hot Butter to truly complete the soundtrack.

P.S. "Popcorn" is availible on the interent almost anywhere

3.0 out of 5 stars Bury Me
That's the tune I wanted most on the CD, and it's missing :( The catchy song is by Amy Millan, with Grindig, and it plays over the closing credits.

The Three Dog Night tunes are kinda fun to listen to, and they're were one of the better things about this generally dumb movie.

But don't get the soundtrack if you're looking for "Bury Me." PS: I haven't...

4.0 out of 5 stars PLEASE HELP ME, August 7, 2001
This review is from: Drowning Mona: Music from and Inspired by the Motion Picture (Audio CD)
Nice movie... JUST ONE THING I wanted to get that techno beat song that was towards the end, when everybody was rushing... it goes as follows (really fast) (almost like rain drops) Ti-Ta-Ti Ta-Ti-Ta-Ta ||| Ti-Ta-Ti Ta-Ti-Ta-Ta ||| Ta-Ti-Ta-Ti Ta-Ti-Ta ||| Ty-Ty-Ty-Ty-T-T-T and on and on (fast passe)

If you know what it is please e-mail me the answer at: " InGearZ "(a)HOTMAIL.COM OR JUST REPLY HERE... Thank you all...

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Movie, Gotta Get the Music, March 19, 2000
This review is from: Drowning Mona: Music from and Inspired by the Motion Picture (Audio CD)
I just saw the movie, and though *that* was amusing weirdness in itself, I knew less than 30 minutes into it that I simply had to buy this soundtrack. All of the great 70s songs are on it -- it's a great background CD or just something to throw in when you want to sing along real loud. Just wish Yugos had a theme song to add along ....

5.0 out of 5 stars Pure Enjoyment, March 4, 2000
This review is from: Drowning Mona: Music from and Inspired by the Motion Picture (Audio CD)
This cd is wonderful. From the wispful and fulffy-airy drum beats of Three Dog Night to the super chill piano groove of Mungo Jerry's In THe SUmmertime. If I broke this cd, I'd buy two more. One to play in my cd player and the other to keep under my pillow for safe keeping.

4.0 out of 5 stars "A BIG THANK YOU for the music, Mona!", March 6, 2000
This review is from: Drowning Mona: Music from and Inspired by the Motion Picture (Audio CD)
This soundtrack features 16 selections, 10 of which are from the '70s, reached the Top 10 Pop Hits from the decade that gave us hot pants. Some notable tracks are - JOY TO THE WORLD (1971) Three Dog Night - DRIFT AWAY (1973)Dobie Gray - NEITHER ONE OF US (WANTS TO BE THE FIRST TO SAY GOODBYE) (1973) Gladys Knight & The Pips all of which are timeless.

Other flashbacks are - IN THE SUMMERTIME (1970) Mungo Jerry - JACKIE BLUE (1974) Ozark Mountain Daredevils - ONLY YOU KNOW AND I KNOW (1970) Dave Mason - INDIANA WANTS ME (1970) R.Dean Taylor all bring back wonderful memories when it topped the charts for Motown. A stand out - SUCKER (1999) Tree Adams tells us to sit back and have a good laugh, because you're just another sucker. Highlight is - BLUE PLATE SPECIAL (1999) another Tree Adams with harmonica and guitar playing, his baby smiles at him and completely knocks him off his feet.

Total Time: 54:53 on 16 Tracks/ Hip-O Records - 314 541 311 2 (2000)

Where is "Bury Me" by Grindig and sung by Amy Millan? The best song in the movie (played near the end) and a sure Sheryl Crow cover, but not on this OST...sad!

4.0 out of 5 stars Turn Your Radio On, July 25, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Drowning Mona: Music from and Inspired by the Motion Picture (Audio CD)
It's summertime in the '70s, you are heading for the beach in your Pontiac LeMans (or Chevy Malibu, or Dodge Charger), you roll down the windows to catch the warm breeze, turn up the radio and hear...pretty much the songs on this CD.

This is a nifty compilation of Top 40 hits that covers the Biggies ("Joy to the World," "Neither One of Us [Wants To Be the First To Say Goodbye]"), the Goodies ("Drift Away," "In the Summertime"), the Overlooked Fun Ones ("Jeans On," "Gimme Dat Ding") and a bunch of stuff in between. For those who experienced this era, this CD will whisk you back to a lightly hedonistic time before an oil crunch and a recession reminded us of The World Out There; for those who were barely aware or weren't born yet when these songs were hits, this collection may give you some idea of those times.

Well selected and nicely remastered from the originals (this is important). Lotsa good stuff.

(Oh, no, there's a cop. You'll get a ticket.)

(It's all right, it's just the end of "Indiana Wants Me.")

(Is that "Jackie Blue"? Turn it up.)

Getting there is half the fun.
