Immunotoxicology is a major new area of toxicology. Recent developments in this field encompass pre-clinical (rodent) studies as well as predictive assessment. Little is known of clinical immunotoxicology. The first part of this book includes coverage of clinical patterns, diagnosis and mechanisms of drug-induced immune diseases, i.e. clinical consequences of immunodepression and immunoenhancement, (immuno-allergic and pseudo-allergic) hypersensitivity reactions, and auto-immune diseases. The second part includes drug by drug coverage of immunotoxicity as reported in the medical literature.
