DRUM MACHINE GUN (CD By Relapse)

This is what you get when you cross Fantomas with death metal and use extreme software editing techniques. Drum Machine Gun is one of the most interesting albums I have come across in a long time. It's fast, ever-changing, brutal, experimental and sometimes humorous because of certain movie samples used. It is a compilation of artists but remains a cohesive release of unique extreme music. Forget about deciphering any of the

vocals, as they sound like a rapid delivery of down tuned belching. At 74 minutes, the album can become overbearing. I would suggest listening to it in brief chunks to avoid becoming overly sensitized. It is by far one of the most unique albums I have heard from Relapse.

Man i just love speed!!!! Don't know why, but i can't get enough! No, not the drug!?! Haha. I'm talking about insanely fast music and drums. Personally I like real drums cause it shows how some drummers can really smoke in that department. Guys like Dave Witte, Gene Hoglan, and Derek Roddy to name a few. These guys tear it up and are just solid. That being said, I still like hearing a drum machine, if its done right? I personally know nothing about how to produce digital drumming, but when I listen to grind and death bands that use it, I just know what I like. Mortician, Enemy Soil, and Agoraphobic Nosebleed are just some of the bands who wanted to get blasting speed without using a real drummer. They helped show that good drum programming could sound pretty awesome, if done right. Ask most people who like this kind of style and I'm sure most would agree that these bands helped pave the way for much of the digital death and grind that exists now. Pioneers in their own right. There are plenty others, goes without saying and definitely they deserve a mention as well. Drum Machinegun represents just a sample of this blastcore or blurrcore style. I have heard this comp about a dozen times and every time I hear it, I want more and more. I'll be honest and say I do skip a few tracks here and there but love the majority of the cd. The styles are all over the place and there is no real structure, just speed. And I wouldn't have it any other way. Most, if not all of these bands have full lengths and split e.p.'s. Can't believe this comp came out in 06'. Has it already been almost 10 years? Time just doesn't wait for anybody, does it? Some good grind here. Some tracks only clock a few seconds to the longest being over 5 minutes.Read more ›

Wow, I wont go into detail about every track and band because there is so many but this has been single-handedly the best compilation I've had the pleasure of purchasing. It's blazing fast, digitally enhanced, brutality. Fans of Agoraphobic Nosebleed should feel right at home.
