1.0 out of 5 stars drum medicine
Guys, Help me understand please, this is called Drum Medicine, but the most distinct sounds in this CD are FLUTEs, guitars and bird sound samples, i THOUGHT I WAS LISTENING TO SANTANA. NOT ENOUGH drums IN THE CD. too many electric instruments.
i WAS SO EXCITED TO BUY THE cd BUT DID NOT HEAR ANY NATIVE CEREMONIAL , GIMBE, TALKING; POW WOW, OR SACRED-KULTRUN DRUMS. I...

The addition of nature sounds, native flutes, guitars and rattles offers a total picture for meditation or quiet listening. Close your eyes and you are there among the trees in the natural world, with the ancients that far better understood than we the connection between Humanity, Earth and the Sacred Spirit. A wonderful CD!

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Medicine, April 17, 2001
This review is from: Drum Medicine (Audio CD)
David & Steve Gordon always provide compelling and evocative music. I enjoyed this CD even more than Sacred Earth Drums. All I can say is; "Drum Medicine" is Good Medicine and will reach deep within you to evoke thoughts of the Natural World around us.

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible - can this be the work of two white men?????, August 31, 2005
This review is from: Drum Medicine (Audio CD)
You have to listen to this CD to believe it. I hear the Native American flute, drums .... it's one incredible CD. I bought it to learn to drum but enjoy listening to it just for relaxation, trance states, etc. This is superb!

4.0 out of 5 stars A great meditation CD...almost TOO good, December 26, 2000
This review is from: Drum Medicine (Audio CD)
My roommate acquired this one first, and after one listen I was hooked. I started using it as background for meditation, but I had to stop for a time...it can quiet the mind and the body enough to put a person to sleep, even with the strong percussion! Absolutely wonderful material, though, whether for meditation, drumming along, or even just background listening.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rod W. is wrong . . ., December 30, 2004

Drum Medicine is just as wonderful and relaxing as the Gordon's first two Cds! It's different in some ways, but still good. I love how the first songs on the Cd are slow, then as you get further along, they (the songs), get a little bit faster! The last song is slow, like the first one. This Cd helps me fall asleep at night, and I highly reccomend it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Deep Shamanic Experience, October 26, 2004

Wow ! I just got turned on to this CD from David & Steve Gordon and it is trully inspiring. Having recently got into various shamanic practices and trance drumming I find this particular album to epitomize the shamanic experience. From it's opening sounds of nature and first beats the music leads the listener into a deep and moving landscape filled with ancient power and majestic beauty. If you want to move into the heart of native world rhythms that take you on a fantastic inner adventure than this is the CD for you. I'll be listening to this one for years to come and look forward to experiencing more of the Gordon's music.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Musical Masterpiece!, February 21, 2004

This compilation is pure listening pleasure! This is the best music for relaxation, and contemplation. Very comfortable to just sit back, relax, and let your mind wander into the melodies, and intricacies of instrumentation. There is more to this music than flute, and drums, which are brilliantly performed. I first discovered this music on satellite radio as I was returning home. I heard "Eagle Dance", and that just did it! My wife, and I called the DJ, and inquired. After finding David, and Steve Gordon as the artists, I ordered five of their disks. I enjoy every one of them, but "Drum Medicine" is my favorite along with "Sacred Earth Drums". "Eagle Dance" is my favorite song, and I can't get enough of it, whether I'm in the car, or at home.I wish these guys would tour! Now, that would be a concert!

4.0 out of 5 stars rhythm for labor, June 18, 2000

I bought this CD in a store and have been using it in the classroom for expecting parents. We put it on as we practice coping techniques for normal labor. It helps expecting moms find that deep rhythm within themselves that keeps them up and moving which is best for all in the labor process. My students often rush out to buy this CD and I often hear it while working with them at their births. Well done.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dance to the Drums, September 12, 2007
This review is from: Drum Medicine (Audio CD)
I dance to this music. I am not young anymore. I do not normally dance in the living room. But when this music plays my children run away. I want to grab them and dance. So I dance alone. And I smile because I know that many men and many women have found a sense of joy in dancing to beats such as this for thousands of years. And when I dance, I feel as though I am tapping into that stream of joy and dancing with those unknown brothers and sisters.

Oddly, I also meditate to this music. I play it softly as I sit in my somewhat twisted version of the lotus position. And I chant. The rhythms seem almost to capture the beat of my heart and my breath. And if I chant long enough I find an amazing gift and that gift is inner tranquility.

To say I adore this music would be accurate. I can only thank its creators for their creative genius and for their understanding of the human heart. Thank you, John C. Conley, author of "Letters to My Friends: A No Guarantees Guide to Awakening."
