This review is from: DW Drum Workshop 5000 Series Delta III Accelerator Double Bass Drum Pedal with Case (Electronics)
I was originally looking to purchase the new pearl demon pedal but as everybody on the planet knows we are in a recession and money is tight. 650 for the demon is a bit extravagant and fiscally unwise for me right now unless your Dennis Chambers and your recording with Santanna. The pedal is very smooth and built like a tank. I got this for live use at church services that at times lasts for hours and hours. right out of the case This pedal has executed flawlessly with little to no major adjustments. For the price and the quality DW has a made a wonderful durable pedal that will be with me for a long time. I love it! and I am very pleased with my purchase.

5.0 out of 5 stars You cannot be dissapointed, January 5, 2011
This review is from: DW Drum Workshop 5000 Series Delta III Accelerator Double Bass Drum Pedal with Case (Electronics)
Ok, so here's the deal: I absolutely love these double bass pedals.

For my money this is by far the best double bass pedal available. You could spend a bit more and get the 9000 series but unless you are playing professionally I suspect that you are not really going to see the benefits of the adjustable cam and the floating rotor. I play semi-professionally and I can say with great certainty that this system is not only really smooth but it is chunky enough to stand up to being moved around a lot. Also the action is smooth and once you get the springs set where you like them they can be locked down really securely.

I have played the Pearl Demon and it is nice but I did not see any huge benefits that justified the price differential.

You really cannot go wrong with this system.

This pedal rocks. There are better pedals, Pearl's Demon drive, or DW's 9000 model, but for the money this is a very versatile, adjustable, solid and well built pedal that your grandkids will be able to rock with should you leave it to them in your will.

4.0 out of 5 stars Poor parts support (Edit: Improved now!), September 8, 2011

The replacement bearings that DW sent a while back have been steadily getting worse, to the point that I can hardly play over the squeaking and rough action.

I checked DW's web site again which still says to get them from your dealer. I contacted Guitar Center again, they just said to get them from DW.

So I emailed DW and this time got a prompt reply. I was told that a bad batch of bearings had gone out and that they'd send me another pair (double kick). And gave me a link in case I ever needed more:

Now that's better! :)

Original review:

The pedals are OK, but in my 30+ years of playing I have never worn out a bearing in a pedal.

Until now.

The rocker bearings where the springs attach keep wearing out on these pedals. I don't use them hard and I keep them well maintained and clean but these bearings only last about 6 months before they start squeaking and become hard to play.

DW won't sell a replacement bearing they're hard to find from a retailer. (Do a search for this part on Amazon)

Very disappointed in DW right now.
