Book Description

3 and up
By daylight, the Drumheller dinosaurs rest their ancient bones. But when the moon rises, so do these slumbering skeletons -- ready to tango, fandango, shimmy and shake! This exuberant read-aloud imagines what the dinosaur skeletons of world-famous Drumheller, Alberta, get up to when everyone's asleep. Kids will want to thumpity-thump along with these dynamic dinos as they dance across the dark, dusty Badlands.

Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal

PreSchool-Grade 1–All day long, the dinosaurs' bones in Drumheller, Alberta, Canada are quiet and still but, when the night falls, those bones get up and dance. The large, white, rhyming text sets the beat as it waves across the dark pages. Some of the rhythm seems awkward but the sound effects combined with the entertaining pictures keep the story moving. The dark brown endpapers feature white line drawings that label the dinosaurs featured in the book. There are a couple of sentences about Drumheller and its Royal Tyrrell Museum at the back of the book. While there are many great picture books about dinosaurs, this one tells a story that young fans will enjoy hearing over and over.–Julie Roach, Malden Public Library, MA

My 4 year old son and 6 year old daughter LOVE this book, as do I. It's a fun read. The rhymes and illustrations are wonderful. I would recommend it to anyone, but it's especially nice if your little one is interested in dinosaurs or fossils.

Even though I am an adult, I still love dinosaurs so I can't help but love this book! It is a fun, whimsical story/song about dinosaur fossils coming bakc to life. It is sure to engage youngsters, especially dinosaur-loving ones. If you like this book, you should also check out "Saturday Night at the Dinosaur Stomp." It is along the same vein, but the vocabulary is much richer...aren't you just dying to hear someone rhyme "cretaceous"?!?
