L. C. Hayden is an author with a very impressive set of credentials. She taught high school English for twenty-six years and has many books to her credit. Ms. Hayden has written fiction, nonfiction, magazine articles and poetry also. In all, L. C. has over 400 pieces of literature to her credit; a very impressive number. Her books have made the top ten best seller lists, Oprah's On-line Reading Café, and her third mystery has been optioned for a movie. She calls El Paso, Texas her home but she spends a lot of time traveling with her husband to book promotions and speaking engagements.

"The Drums of Gerald Hurd" is a story that will definitely give you shivers. It was an exciting and gripping tale right from the start. From the innocent beginning at birth, Ms. Hayden takes you through the tormented years of this sinister man -- how he coped with the daily strife of teasing from the kids at school and the uneasy feeling he instilled on the other townsfolk as he grew up. Gerald was a man that most people feared, but could not tell you why.

Ms. Hayden continues this riveting mystery with insights into the mind of Gerald Hurd, his desire to expand his mind and to do things through telekinesis and more, including the scheming and conniving thoughts he had about the townspeople and his schoolmates. There was an evil within him that was eating at his very core and he enjoyed the feeling it gave him. He felt powerful when he confronted the citizens of the town, they feared him and he liked it. Gerald had an iron grip on the town till his nemesis, Allen Moore, came to town and changed his life forever.

The book just gets better from there and the action intensifies. "The Drums of Gerald Hurd" is a very good mystery novel that will be enjoyed by any mystery buff no matter what their age. I would highly recommend it to anyone who likes the intrigue of the supernatural mixed with a bit of spine tingling suspense. Exciting and well written by an outstanding writer; I gave "The Drums of Gerald Hurd" my A+ rating.
