For the un-experienced, it could be a boring CD, but if you really appreciate Asian culture and Music, this CD will give you a glimpse of the feeling. Its DDD recording, assures that the whole audio signal is kept, from the deep-bass drums to the high pitched metals.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great CD, October 24, 2007
This review is from: Drums of Tokyo (Audio CD)
I have heard several live Taiko drum performances and this CD has a nice varity of tracks. You will also find this CD a bit like sound scapes were listing in my car the CD is very relaxing during rush hour driving, bumper to bumper. I highly recommend this CD. I have other Taiko Drum CD and this one ranks up with the best.

4.0 out of 5 stars Rhythm to Spare..., May 8, 2008

This is a great example of Taiko drumming, with Deep Drums and pounding beats filled with rhythmic melody and syncopation. Although expertly played, the vocal cries and shouts of the drummers can sometimes be annoying. That plays well in live performance, and connects the crowd with the performer, but it doesn't translate as well to CD. I found myself wishing to just hear the drums and have the drummers be quiet. For that reason, I can not rate it a full 5 stars. But on drummer skill and rhythmic variety, these drums rock!. Well worth owning.
