The Druze in the Middle East is about the Druze of the region in general and the Druze community in Israel in particular. The book contains three sections, each of which delves deeply into various problems connected with the Druze. The first section focuses on the history of the Druze and the Druze settlements in the countries of the region; the second sections deals with the religion’s social and cultural life, organization and religious law in the Druze traditions; the third section expands on the Druze in Israel, their integration in the life of the country, Druze service in the IDF and changes in modern Druze society.

About the Author

Dr. Salman Falah, was in charge of Druze education in the Ministry of Education in Israel, and now holds the post of the ministry’s deputy director general. In the past he has held various senior public and state positions and lectured, inter alia, in the Gordon College for teachers’ training and in Haifa University. He has written scores of books in Arabic, English, Hebrew and French and articles on matters connected with Druze history and culture. His education activity has brought him the President’s award for voluntarism, the Teachers’ Union prize for his life’s work and the Ministry of Education highest award in Israel.
