Book Description

Improbably enough, the eminent English plantswoman's own garden & nursery in East Anglia led her to write these classics, since both problems occur on her property. Her disarmingly simple solution-match the plant to the site, soil, & climate-has succeeded in turning this nursery into one of the world's great horticultural resources.

About the Author

Beth Chatto runs her own Garden and Nursery for Unusual Plants at Elmstead Market near Colchester. Winner of ten Gold Medals at Chelsea, she also holds the Royal Horticultural Society's Victoria Medal of Honour and an honorary doctorate from Essex University for her services to horticulture. She is the author of a host of gardening classics and is also co-author of Dear Friend and Gardener, written with her long-standing friend and fellow gardener, Christoph --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

3.0 out of 5 stars Dry Garden Information, September 18, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Dry Garden (Paperback)
This is a useful guide to select and maintain dry gardens. The author lives in England, so not everything is useful in Chicago gardens, but there are lots of useful tips and plant selections that help to give a better understanding dry garden requirements. I found the information useful in designing gardens along the Lake Michigan lakefront which has sandy soil.
