Editorial Reviews

Product Description

When Ony applied for the Grand Canyon Colorado river permit, he never expected to win it in the first place. Winning the lottery almost immediately, he is faced with the prospect of first gathering a team of rafters together within the space of a couple of weeks, with no prior warning. What follows is a story of confusion and comedy, mayhem and mishap, on what is, for everybody on the team, their first descent down the mighty Colorado river through the Grand Canyon.

---

Ony eloquently captures all the many aspects of a Grand Canyon
river trip. From the initial shock of winning the lottery to readjusting to
life after his river trip, this hilarious recounting of all the aspects of a
self-guided Grand Canyon river trip is a must read for all first time Grand
river runners.

Tom Martin, coauthor of Guide to the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon and numerous other books on the Grand Canyon

I know the author so my view may be biased. However I do dislike travel diary genre and have never read one such book till the end. Up till now.

I think this is a great first book for anyone thinking of rafting through Grand Canyon. It blends personal experience well with information of what to expect. I spent amusing few hours reading about groups adventures and misadventures and by the end of it I felt I have achieved an understanding how my trip would feel, if I ever get to do it. Which judging by this book I should.

There are signs in book that Martin is a first time author (I read earlier draft, so your copy is likely more polished) and most readers probably will not describe it as achingly beautiful or ingenious, but I do think it is a small gem, so thumbs up and let us have another one, Martin.
