We always felt guilty that all that perfectly good heat was getting pumped outside during the winter when we were drying clothes. The unit was simple to hook up, but took a little creativity to get it rigged up where the heat could actually blow out. Now our laundry room is the warmest in the house. It also blows miosture out into the house during those dry humidity months of winter. In the summer, we just flip the flap and the heat goes right outside. The house starts to smell like clean laundry so it that bothers you, don't go this route. We happen to like this. It also looks a little odd with the unit mounted on the wall in the laundry room. If your laundry room aesthetics is important to you, this unit would not be good. If you are practical like us, you won't mind and it serves as a monument to your practicality. Does this make a massive impact on our heating bills or anything? No, but it sure makes us warm and feel a lot less guilty.

bought this unit just to try it, seems to work ok, however you still need to clean the lint screen about once a week even if you are not using it to get the excess heat from the dryer as it gets caught on the flap door. otherwise seems to be worthwhile item. its amazing how much heat is going outside just from running the dryer. might as well make use of it if you can. product is also very easy to install, I just cut the galvanized 4" pipe and put it in line. I used a foil type tape to seal it to the pipe.

item is brilliant! by adding to your dreyer vent, you can divert the hot moist air into the home, which is a big savings on heat in the winter and adds moisure to the air as well (especially on those dry winter days). When it gets warmer out, a flick of the switch and the heat goes back out side. what can be simpler? I highly recomend this product. Only issue, is you need to put it in a place where you have good access to it, as you need to remove the lint screen for cleaning after every load.

I am horrified that the product decription does not state that this should NOT be used with a gas dryer as you are putting Carbon Monoxide and other products of combustion into your home. There are devices conceptually similar that are safe to use with gas dryers but they are very hard to find.

I have used this product for close to 15 years. My mother-in-law swears by them and when she gave me her old electric dryer, this device came with it. I will have to say it works great in the winter time as I need both the heat and the humidity. I have never had a problem with the door or the lint screen, but I did get metal clamps. And yes, it is cheap - it's $8. But the one my mother-in-law gave me 15 years ago is still working just fine and has been passed on, with the dryer, to my son. Just make sure to take it out and clean it every year.

It does work, but very poorly made. Duct tape to the rescue. Saves the hot air from the dryer in winter, putting heat and moisture into the house, but allowing it to be vented outside in the summer.

We've been using this since last fall, about 7 months, and I wish we would have gotten one years ago. We have a 2,500 square foot house built in 1899 with 40 huge honkin' original windows, some floor to ceiling. Needless to say, we have heating issues! It hits all the first floor {washer and dryer on first floor} and warms it up nicely! We have an outdoor wood furnace that pushes hot water through our radiators so it's very dry in the winter. It instantly pumps moisture into the air and makes it feel much, much warmer. It was easy to install and does what it's supposed to! One of the reviews stated about being cheap plastic compared to the one they had before. I don't doubt that. We all know nothing is made like it used to be. It's $8 and it does the same thing as a more expensive one or original model would do. It's not really fair to compare the two, especially when the price point is only $8 on this one. I think it was $11 when I bought it, but on sale for $8 now. I would highly recommend it!

you need to have extra cable ties the ends are not ribbed so the tube slides off and you can't tighten it enough. but with extra ties you can cable tie the cable ties that go around the ends together pulling them toward the center.

Installation was a bit awkward but once past that the additional heat and moisture in the house through the winter months has been nice.
