Product Description

Hiking is one of the most fun outdoor activities, enjoyed by people of all ages. Hiking can be a challenge depending on the location or weather. Hiking gear can make a big difference, as using the wrong gear can ruin the fun or bring about big trouble. Wet socks are a hiker's worst enemy, especially in cold or freezing temperatures. Moisture pulls heat away from the skin 23 times faster than air and can reduce skin temperature so rapidly that wet feet feel painfully cold. Wet skin makes the feet much more susceptible not only to frostbite, but also to blisters. Drymax Hiking Socks have a special Dual Layer Moisture Removal System. This system instantly moves moisture from the skin, through the inner Drymax layer to the outer absorbent layer, keeping feet dry. Staying dry is critical to remaining warm, comfortable and safe in cold weather. Drymax is the least thermally conductive fiber. This means Drymax fibers keep feet warmer because they draw less heat away from the skin. The Hiking Sock is a High Density protective padded sock. Using dense padding, as opposed to thick padding, it protects feet without adversely affecting the fit of the shoes. The Hiking Socks were designed for use in cold to mild conditions, keeping feet dry, comfortable and odor free all day long.

I just received two pairs of these, and they are great hiking socks. I would say they are of medium thickness, and the toes and heels are well-reinforced, but not to the point that it is noticeable when you are wearing them. They would be well-suited to hiking or snow boots, but not for running or technical hiking/climbing shoes. I am so happy with the build and the feel that I will definitely be ordering more. One word of caution: I ordered the Large size, and although I usually take a size 9 in shoes/boots, they fit perfectly, so if your feet are much larger, the L size could be too small.

I bought these for my daughter before a 30 mile, 3 day hike. She had new boots and hadn't broken them in, so I thought I'd get these socks for her, hoping they would help minimize blisters. She got no blisters at all! She had good quality hiking boots and they fit well, and that's important too. But I have to think that the socks also helped to reduce blister formation.

These hiking socks are now my favorite general use socks. They are fairly thick and heavy, but since I usually wear them inside boots, that is not a problem for me. They are extremely comfortable, making a good fit to the shape of my foot, not offering any annoying thick seams and feeling like they add a cushioning effect. My feet stay comfortable longer in these socks. I love them and will be getting some more soon.

Never been long distance hiking before and read lots of reviews that these would help prevent blisters. So I bought these drymax socks, plus the drymax lite as I was hiking in 80 degree weather for 3 days. They both were great - although I actually liked the regular drymax slightly better than the lite version. I also used 2Toms Sport Shield Roll On with these socks. And guess what? NO BLISTERS!!!! Really! These are kind of spendy, but so worth it!

I do construction, my feet sweat heavily, the drymax when worn over polypropylene sock liners is the only combination I have found to keep my feet comfortable and my toes NOT cold in the winter.

These socks made my feet sweat even more. No warmth at all. Somewhat comfortable. Too many socks on the market claiming to stop sweating AND keep your feet warm.

I do a fair bit of hiking and find these socks very comfortable. They seem to transfer the sweat away from my feet to the outside of the sock which is impressive. They are a bit expensive but you get what you pay for.
