5.0 out of 5 stars Great Product 70% all the time!
I purchased the product for my 50 stogie humidor. I was amazed when I put it in the humidor with cigars and checked it 6 hours later... humidity was regulated at 71%! I have a caliber III hygrometer so I know it is accurate. After 1 week of having the drymistat in the humidor, it constantly reads 70% humidity. I even checked the high and low humidity that is recorded...

3.0 out of 5 stars Good
They work great at keeping the humidity at 70%, but I have to keep them store at an angle in my humidor because they spill through the perforated cap. I also try it in my travel humidor (Cigar Caddy) and it spill all over my cigars. Any advice to correct this?

I have a caliber III hygrometer so I know it is accurate. After 1 week of having the drymistat in the humidor, it constantly reads 70% humidity. I even checked the high and low humidity that is recorded on the caliber and it read 70%. Easy to use product... you just have to add tap water. Low maintenance as well... fill 1-3 months depending upon conditions. I paid 8$ at JR Cigar.. very inexpensive compared to other humidifying products.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect humidity, easily accomplished., May 23, 2009

Great product. I've had four in my 100 cigar humidor for a few years now. I keep one in my portable humidor, and have one in a zip lock bag for those times when I end up with more cigars than my humidor holds. I have never had a dry or moldy cigar using this product.

The rule of thumb for one tube per 25 cigars seems like a good one.

I agree with another reviewer that on various vendor's websites, it looks like the purchase price is for a box of tubes instead of a single tube.

For the guy who said they simply didn't work, that seems strange to me, since my experience is they are very effective and simple to use.

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy, effective, and inexpensive, April 4, 2011

The Drymistat does its job exactly as it should. Other reviewers have more experience, so I defer to them for details of effectiveness. By the way, the thickness of the tube is ~the same as a cigar tube, and it is 5.5" in length. The instructions advise placing it in the center of the humidor.

There is perhaps some understandable confusion because the instructions could be written better, and that is why a few reviewers had problems with leaking: "Some evaporation may occur while sitting on the shelf. Remove wrapper. Add plain tap water to the Fill line. Put perforated cap on tube and wait for water to be absorbed. . . . A mixture of Propylene Glycol and water has been specially formulated and initially charged into the crystals."

When you receive the Drymistat, pop the cap and take out a crystal. You'll notice it is moist. This is the "initial charge" referred to, and the amount of moisture will depend upon, as the instructions say, how long the item has been sitting in inventory. The instructions mention that the tube has microscopic pores which permit moisture to pass thru; this is why there can be evaporation. All that's required is to add a small amount of water - if necessary - to the fill line and then leave the tube upright with the second perforated cap on, until that water is absorbed by the crystals, which is pretty quickly. Turn the tube upside down and gently shake it or very gently squeeze it, and any excess water will come out. Now place in humidor and there won't be any leaking. The crystals will shrink as the water transfers to your absorbent cigars or whatever. Refill when crystals shrink below the lower line on the tube. That's all there is to it.

This gets the job done, keeps a pretty consistent humidity. But be prepared to use about 5 in a 100 cigar humidor. Use less than three and they need to be filled every few days to a week. I generally recommend them, but make sure you have enough if your not living the rain forest.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works great, but they CAN leak, December 3, 2009
This review is from: Drymistat Humidifier Tube
Just a little warning about these. They work great, but be careful. Before I bought a travel humidor, I got in the habit of sticking a few cigars in a ziploc bag with one of these. That worked fine, until I left them in the car overnight. Some moisture condensed inside the bag, got the plastic tube wet on the outside, and osmosis drew the solution through the plastic and onto my cigars. Completely ruined. So don't do something stupid like that, and you should be fine.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great product, misleading sales, January 11, 2009

I bought this product and have found it perfect. It allows you to leave your humidor alone without babying the humidifier with water and glycol for that perfect/mysterious/etheral/overly-scientific/alchemic level of humidity and actually retaining it.

I gave the product 5 out of 5 because it is such a great product but if I could rate the purchase I would rate it 1 out of 5 because the picture plainly depicts a packaged box full of these tubes which was what I thought I was buying ... not just ONE TUBE.

Fine product though!

4.0 out of 5 stars Keeps your stogies comfy, September 4, 2008
This review is from: Drymistat Humidifier Tube
I purchased the Drymistat about 2 years ago and I'm very pleased with it. It's very easy to use and a must have for anyone who keeps more than 25 cigars, especially if your climate is dry. Here are a few tips for those who own a humidor with draws or trays: let the stock humidifier take care of the top drawer or tray and put a drymistat stick in each level. I have a 100ct humidor w/drawers and keep about 80-85 stogies. I keep my premos in the bottom drawer with 2 drymistats and they are aging very well at 64-68% relative humidity. Also, make sure to refill with distilled water. Tap water will leave a brown residue on the beads after a period of time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Could It Be Easier?, February 20, 2010

You can spend a lifetime trying to get those cigars to 70% humidity with all kinds of humidifiers and sensors, or you could just buy one or two of these things and never worry about it again.

The drymistat humiditube couldn't be easier to use. You buy these by the single tube. Inside the clear plastic cigar sized tube, is the clear water absorbing gel - the same thing used in diapers and the magic soil additive so you don't have to water plants so often stuff. There's absolutely no instructions, you peel off the shrink wrapped top, pop the solid lid off, add water up to the top line, pop on the cap with the little holes, and into your humidor or plastic bag goes the tube. And voila, 70% humidity where ever you've stuck this thing.

It's hard to imagine how anything could be more simple than these tubes. No need to muck around with those humidifier discs, wondering if they have water in them or not. Look at the clear tube, when the gel shrinks below the bottom blue line, time to add water.

One tube is really enough to support a small humidor.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Device, May 18, 2010

i use this in my travel humidor and i love it. all you do is add tap water to the fill line pop it in the humidor and it holds at 70% with no issues. my travel humidor is a plastic one so it takes very little to season it (leave the drymistat in there for an hour or 2) but in my nice large humidor at the house once it was properly seasoned i put 3 drymistat's in there (75 cigars) and it also holds right at 70%. i would not use any other humidity device.

I've been using these for about eight years. They work great. I replace them when they get brownish, which happens at about the five-year mark, but some last longer. The brownish color may not mean they're bad, but I prefer to replace them at that point.
