5.0 out of 5 stars Must have for RVers with a generator.
This adaptor is a must have accessory for RVers with portable generators. Makes using your generator just like plugging into shore power. The adaptor is well made and should last for years.

3.0 out of 5 stars Meant for generators!
Just to clarify - this product won't give you a 30 amp electrical service, it just allows you to plug in a 30 amp cord. It's fairly common for smaller RVs to work off of either 20 or 30 amp services. Trying to use this in a home with a device that draws more than 20 amps will blow breakers (or worse). It can also be incredibly dangerous if the home has outlets that...

4.0 out of 5 stars Power Adapter 15/20 amp duplex to 30 amp RV, August 22, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Dual 15 - 30 AMP RV adapter for Honda, Yamaha, & Kipor generator - convert two 15/20 AMP outlets to one RV 30 AMP outlet (Misc.)
Bought this to use with a Yamaha EF2000IS generator. Have had too many of the typical round 15 amp to 30 amp adapters overheat because of poor connection, and deform to the point that the connection will start to arc. This actually melted a 30 amp RV plug. I was using a 20 amp outlet when this problem occured, and was pushing the limits of the 20 amp circuit.

So far, this adapter is working fine, with no sign of over heating. In looking at the construction, and description, I think they have addressed the problems I was having.

The Yamaha generator has a trim ring next to the duplex outlet that prevented the insertion of the adapter. I used a file to round off one of the corners on the adapter.

I do not have any experience with the other brands on generators listed as compatable, so am not aware of any other problems with fit.

Trying to use this in a home with a device that draws more than 20 amps will blow breakers (or worse). It can also be incredibly dangerous if the home has outlets that have separate circuits on the top and bottom plug of the outlet - as mine does. Plugging this in to one of those outlets would cause a short circuit.

5.0 out of 5 stars Phonix RVer, August 29, 2011
This review is from: Dual 15 - 30 AMP RV adapter for Honda, Yamaha, & Kipor generator - convert two 15/20 AMP outlets to one RV 30 AMP outlet (Misc.)
This adapter works great on the generators needing to comabine outputs. It also works great to adapt from a 30 amp cord to a standard 120 volt AC home duplex outlet. It will allow the full 20 amps (for a home wired for 20 amps) to go to the RV without over heating itself or the outlet. In homes wired for 20 amps, going through 15 amp outlets, a single plug adapter (like a dogbone/biscuit)will overload itself and the single outlet. Using both outlets divides the (up to) twenty amps between the two outlets. The result is 10 amps or less will go through each 15 amp outlet. This keeps the current flow below the rating of the outlets. Some people have expected this adapter to generate electricity. It will not. It is an adapter, and does the job it is designed to do. If your home circuit has other items plugged into it, your total load will be increased by that amount. If you draw more than the circuit was made for, your breaker will trip. The adapter is made for 120 volts. If your outlet has 220 volts going to it, the adapter will trip the breaker. The only precaution is; the dual plug adapter must be plugged into a standard 120 volt wall outlet. Any extension cords must be on the output side of the adapter. Never use extension cords on the prong side. It is a great item and should have a very long life.

4.0 out of 5 stars "adapter for...GENERATOR", September 28, 2010
This review is from: Dual 15 - 30 AMP RV adapter for Honda, Yamaha, & Kipor generator - convert two 15/20 AMP outlets to one RV 30 AMP outlet (Misc.)
I don't recommend using this adapter on household outlets...EVER. Take a close look at the name of this item, "adapter for...GENERATOR" (added emphasis). If you tried using this device on in your home, it isn't the product that is hazardous, it is the user that is hazardous.

30 AMP connections for RVs should always be on a dedicated circuit that can support more than 30 AMPs, with a 30 AMP breaker or fuse. If you are going to install a dedicated 15 AMP household circuit so you can use this adapter in your home, you are better off just installing the proper 30 AMP outlet instead.

If you already have a pair of 15 AMP outlets on a dedicated circuit that can support 30 AMPs, this adapter might work, but caveat emptor!!!! It isn't the seller's or manufacturer's fault you ignored the name of this product.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not for any other use, June 25, 2009
This review is from: Dual 15 - 30 AMP RV adapter for Honda, Yamaha, & Kipor generator - convert two 15/20 AMP outlets to one RV 30 AMP outlet (Misc.)
I bought this product to try to hook up a 30amp power cord from my RV to two household outlets. It kept tripping the circuit breaker on the house.

I don't know for sure, but it probably works fine for a generator (the device for which it was designed), but I do know it won't work for hooking up an RV to a standard household outlet.

So, even though it says it can convert two 15/20 amp outlets to one 30 amp RV outlet, it won't.

You get what you pay for. Try the RV Box adapter from Camping World. It's designed for this type of usage (http://www.campingworld.com/shopping/item/50-amp-rv-box-adapter/25774) or the Progressive Industries RV CHEATER BOX - 50 Amp Output instead.

2.0 out of 5 stars Overpriced, October 2, 2008
This review is from: Dual 15 - 30 AMP RV adapter for Honda, Yamaha, & Kipor generator - convert two 15/20 AMP outlets to one RV 30 AMP outlet (Misc.)
Product appears to be cheaply made (very lightweight & elec prongs rattle) for costing almost $20.00. If its up to elec code and lasts for more than a few uses, might be worth it. Woud be worth having for emergency use & to keep in the drawer if priced at 10.00 or so.

This review is from: Dual 15 - 30 AMP RV adapter for Honda, Yamaha, & Kipor generator - convert two 15/20 AMP outlets to one RV 30 AMP outlet (Misc.)
This adapter does not work is hazardous to the user. Upon plugging it in I heard/saw an electrical pop and it immediately tripped the circuit breakers in my house. I should have sent it back for a refund but have not taken the time. This was a total rip off.
