Absolutely spectacular as a home theater w/ xbmc and win8 x64.

Installation requires some technical skills and comfort with installing/configuring software (esp the remote), but it was a fun project.

Ps - installed 8gb corsair ram + 64gb ssd and it boots up in about 4 seconds flat. Be sure to
check the Zotac website for the approved ram list.

Pps - there is a known issue with one of the harddrive mount screws touching the ram causing the box to crash/not boot. I didn't install that screw (not really needed)

EDIT: 4/10/2013 ---> Amazon now in line with NewEgg! I've used this little magic machine for over 2 months now and it works like a dream. 5 stars!

EDIT: 5/25/2014 --> Wow, it's been over a year?! This little baby is still working FLAWLESSLY. It plays literally any video thrown at it (usually 1080p/24 + DTS) without hiccups and has brought me and my fam lots of joy :). Hopefully this will last me another 2-3 years before 4k becomes mainstream!

I bought this tiny PC to run Windows 7 Media Center on the TV in our master bedroom. My primary requirements were small size, low noise, no blinking lights, and adequate processing power. The Zotac unit met all of these. At first I thought fan noise would be a problem because it seemed a little shrill while the machine was setting next to me on my desk during initial setup. But after I moved it to the TV shelf across the bedroom, I could no longer hear the fan. And although the unit has a large green light on top, I was able to disable that with a BIOS setting.

To put the Zotac in operation, I added 8 GB of memory and a 64 GB SSD and then installed Windows 7 plus all available updates. Everything worked perfectly, and now we can access TV recorded on the Media Center in our family room as well as the various streaming services we use, including Amazon.

My company has been buying these to act as a cheap PC for customer installs. For every three units I order, I have to send one back due to manufacturer defects. Either the power button is broken upon arrival, or the unit will not boot up once SSD and RAM installed.

If you get one that works upon delivery, they are great. I recommend buying two so that you can make sure that when you have to send one back, at least you already have a backup.

Awesome mini pc! Form factor is great. Plays everything, including hd. Has issues with hd Silverlight. But that's Silverlight sucking. Even plays some games pretty well! Using it as a HTPC in the bedroom with my lg pb60g mini projector. Amazing combo!!

I have been using these mini pcs in multiple homes to run XBMC media centers and a couple in my own home, one for my daughter and one for my master bedroom. My daughters AD12 died at about 5 months old, she is 4 years old so not a heavy user :) It has now been 3 weeks of working with Zotac trying to get the broken machine RMA'ed. They apparently have problems recieving customers emails, and get frustrated when customers call them out on that fact. I have finally been able to ship the broken machine to them, and now can wait up to 30 more days for a replacement which may or may not be the same model from what I have heard from others. I will no longer do business with this company which is a shame as I really like this product while it was working it provided the prefect balance of power and size for the average user/home theater setup (1080p streaming looked great). 4 Months ago I would have given this a 5 star rating but the support from the company ripped away as many stars as I can take away, if I could go into negative stars I would.

I got this shortly after purchasing a WD My Cloud 2TB Personal Cloud Storage - NAS (WDBCTL0020HWT-NESN), and having the product fail within the first week. Even though the 2.5 inch drive is technically slower than the my cloud, having a full fledged server running on a 1.7GHZ x86-64 made transfer speeds much faster (averaging 100Mb/s). Also, FreeNAS is much more versatile. The plugins gave same benefits, and seem to work much better. I picked this up used for around $130. With the hard drive and ram, that brought the price to about $250. Also, expansion isn't a problem, as it's loaded with USB ports and and an eSATA port. The only comment I'd make about it being HTPC (what it's actually made for)--if your library is 720p I don't see a problem. 1080p might give this guy some issues as it's basically a netbook.

I'm sure I would have loved it but it didn't boot. So it went back. Now I am trying an Intel NUC so maybe that will work !

Product auto rebooted don't know why or care I initially returned with a replacement option then decided to go the refund route since it was available. I'll wait for a bit my last 3 MAJOR buys here have been first time duds.I will say the First two replacements were great! I just didn't want this one replaced after I saw it.
