Product Description

The Campro Acoustic Shotgun Mike Kit is a versatile professional dual-mode electret-condenser microphone. The microphone's design allows it to be used with confidence in diverse miking applications. The Mike features two user-selectable polar patterns. The Hypercardioid "Tele" setting gives a long narrow pattern which is ideal for isolating sounds at a distance such as at weddings and speeches. The cardioid setting yields a wider pattern well-suited to close-range pickup of larger groups or for interview work. While commonly mounted on a stand, camera or pole it can be hand-held with excellent results. The back electret-condenser element is powered internally by a single 1.5v AA battery. In addition to its excellent electrical characteristics the Mike also incorporates noteworthy physical features which are designed to ensure years of reliable service. The beautifully finished housing is ruggedly constructed from steel and finished to resist damage from accidental drops or misuse. Fine mesh is used to protect microphone openings from debris and lessen "pops" and wind noise. The internal XLR connector is-plated to maintain optimum signal integrity. The microphone is supplied with coiled XLR-XLR and XLR-3.5mm mini cables, as well as a mini-to-phono adapter. This allows the Mike to be used successfully with balanced and unbalanced devices compatible with the microp hone's output impedance.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very Suprising Results, February 16, 2006

This review is from: Campro Dual-Mode Shotgun Microphone with Accessory Kit
I bought this mic thinking it would be a good cheap starter mic that I would replace as soon as I had the money. I couldn't believe how good it was. It has a good frequency response, and is an excellent mic. It boosts the frequency to bring out the best tones with hardly any EQ-ing.

It worked great mounted on the camera as well, but it was a bit noisy because the mic is extremely sensitive to touch. This can be a problem if you buy cheap mic cables because if the connection is loose, then you're going to hear it!

That was the biggest draw back to this mic. Even on my shock mount on the boom pole, it was more sensitive to touch than other mics I have used. It only took a little practice to get the hang of using it silently though.

For the price, this is probably the best mic. I strongly suggest it as a money saver in the sound department. I never recommend buying cheap on sound, but I got really lucky buying this mic.

It is perfect for wedding videographers because the high quality at a low cost, but if you're going to mount it to your camera, make sure you get a shock mount instead of using the included mic clips!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fits the bill, October 19, 2010

I do freelance video production work and have been building my arsenal of equipment slowly but surely over the past year. What really got my attention with this product is the "gift set" arrangement it came in. Came with the mic, windscreen, AA battery, 1/4'' adapter, XLR-to-XLR, XLR-to-1/8'', and two mounts (one for the camera hot shoe, one for a stand/boom pole). Not to mention the zippered soft case and the latching hard case it comes in (which is very nice and sturdy). The mic has two settings, "normal" and "tele" (for long distance recording). The microphone is very sensitive to the touch, which you'll read on one or two other reviews for this same product. I've done a couple test runs with it, and it works very well. You'll notice some "noise" when you have your gain turned up, but if you know what you're doing, you'll make the adjustments on camera to eliminate/lower it. On the playback, it's not detectable, and sounds great. Make sure you have a good shock mount on your camera, as you will pick up some slight noise from normal camera use (shifting of hand, knocking against camera, etc.). Still, very good mic for someone on a budget or looking to get started. I would recommend this to others. Arrived earlier than stated, too, from Adorama. I'd buy from them again.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great price, great item!, October 29, 2010

I purchased this NRG SA-568 Shotgun Mic kit because it seemed like a good value for the package. I wasn't sure how well it would work, but as soon as I got it and tested it out and it works absolutely great! So its a great price for the indy-film maker!

I only gave it 4 stars because the photo shows a bag included in the kit, but my package didn't have the bag. I'm not really concerned about this since I'll keep everything in the sturdy hard case that it was packaged in anyway, but I certainly can't give them 5 stars for that. But overall I'm very happy with it.
