One morning, at dawn, when Cara is walking by the sea, a tidal wave appears upon the horizon and approaches the shore at tremendous speed. In fear of her life, Cara flees from the shoreline and runs back into the town, up a hill, through a wood and enters a remote hotel. Initially she is relieved to be free of the wave, but when she is unable to find out from the staff what has happened in the town, or go out to discover for herself, her own memories become increasingly unreal and her need to know gradually becomes less pressing. In the dark labyrinthine corridors of this hotel, with only unintelligible books, nocturnal flute recitals and confusing shadowy dreams, Cara feels both serene and oppressed. Can Cara find her way out of the mysterious hotel?
