Dualco Grease Gun with Short Nozzle

I really like this little grease gun for working on bicycles.

It saves a lot of money over buying expensive bicycle grease in disposable applicator bottles. I use Castrol NGLI-2 lithium wheel bearing grease I buy at the local auto store for about $5 in a quart tub. This is very high quality grease and is much more economical than grease you can buy in the tube.

Filling this grease gun is simple and easy. Use a clean applicator like a disposable plastic spoon so you don't contaminate your bulk grease container. The process is as simple as unscrewing the base and glopping the grease inside after pushing down the little follower bottom seal that rides up and down under the grease. Screw the base back on and push up the bottom seal through the keyhole in the base to press out any extra air. You can use a screwdriver or small rod to do this. Prime the pump by just squeezing the palm trigger a few times while pushing up on the bottom seal to get any remaining air out until grease flows with the pump without help from pressing up on the bottom with your screwdriver or rod on the follower.

Grease flows from the nozzle aperture in a very small easily-controllable flow. I bet one could find different nozzles to fit on this tool if you wanted to change the flow rate but the one that comes with this grease gun is just perfect for my purposes working on bikes. Filling a bearing race on a bicycle application takes about 5-6 pumps -it is that precise. There is very little waste or mess as you can put it exactly where you want it and not have to use too much.

Pros:

*Re-usable, re-fillable, can use bulk grease of any type.

*Easy to fill.

*Doesn't leak all over.

*Precise and good for small precise grease work.

*Small size fits into your tool box so it is right there when you need it, not on the shelf somewhere or hanging on the far wall of your shop.

Cons:

*Sort of expensive for such a small tool sometimes depending one who has it.

*Goes in and out of availability and is hard to find -even here on Amazon. That might be why it is expensive at times.. I've never seen this brand at a retail store or LBS. If you find one snap it up!

I have several of these mini guns for different greases. The perfect accessory is the Dualco 4.5" Needle Nozzle, it really lets you put grease where you need it especially if you're rebuilding wheel bearings or an old bottom bracket. I also use one for lubricating the tip of my chainsaw bar. And best of all, these are made in the USA and cost about the same as the Chinese made knock offs.

I bought this grease gun to use on my Turner mountain bike. It is made of heavy duty metal and has a strong spring on the pump handle. It appears that it will last a long time and it is a good quality product. It comes with simple instructions on how to fill the gun with grease and it worked perfectly. The tip of this grease gun is about the same size as a regular ball point pen and ejects a fine stream of grease that is perfect for bike applications for where a small amount of grease is needed. I would recommend this grease gun.

It was very difficult to find a small, needle fitted grease gun. Lots of replacement nozzles in needle size are out there, but I wanted a small volume gun as the amount of grease to be used and the infrequency of application made a typical grease gun overkill. Once the Dualco grease gun was loaded with grease, it worked great. Highly recommend this grease gun for small volume projects.
