5.0 out of 5 stars Finally I have a toaster that works!
This is an excellent toaster. We went through a series of cheapo toasters from Walmart or wherever and I could never get good results. Was it too much to ask that both sides of the bread be toasted evenly from top to bottom with one cycle of the toaster? You think that would be a no brainer but apparently it's difficult for the el'cheapo brands to accomplish. This Dualit...

3.0 out of 5 stars Remember the toaster of your childhood?
This is not that toaster. The Dualit is attractive and all but has the same defect that caused me to jettison my old toaster and try again, i.e., failure in its only task, which is to brown bread evenly and consistently. It's not as wildly erratic as the Oster model I had before, but still not satisfactory. Easy on the eyes, hard on the whole wheat.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally I have a toaster that works!, March 30, 2005

This is an excellent toaster. We went through a series of cheapo toasters from Walmart or wherever and I could never get good results. Was it too much to ask that both sides of the bread be toasted evenly from top to bottom with one cycle of the toaster? You think that would be a no brainer but apparently it's difficult for the el'cheapo brands to accomplish. This Dualit toaster gets the job done though. The bagel setting is great too. It toasts the cut face of the bagel perfectly while not burning the rest. I can toast pretty much everything between settings 2 and 3. Why it goes all the way to 8 I can't imagine. Perhaps if I need to start a fire on a short time delay I can stick some pop-tarts in there on 8 and then run away.

Anyway, you can do worse than buy this toaster. I highly recommend it.

Seems like such a simple appliance. Just heat up and brown the bread. You can buy one for less than $10 at the drug store. Newlyweds end up with dozens of them. We've tossed out several of them.
Finally decided to bite the bullet and purchase a "good" toaster. Regular Dualit toasters looked nice, but couldn't stomach the cost. This one looked good too, and was much less expensive. Bought one.
We've had it for three years now and it works like a charm. Sturdy appliance that does what it is supposed to. The bagel setting is nice if you don't like buns toasted on both sides. The lift works well too.
Very satisfied. Would buy another but don't expect that we'll need to for a very very long time...

5.0 out of 5 stars beautiful and well made toaster - finally!, February 20, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I don't make a lot of toast, but when I do, I need to make more than two at a time for family breakfast. I had a four slice toaster that never worked right or well and took up a ridiculous amount of counter space, especially for something not used that often. I put up with its poor functionality because I didn't use it much. Once our kitchen was remodeled, it was time for a new one. I read lots and lots of reviews and basically wound up with a consensus that none worked really great or the ones that did were either two-slice or hideously expensive. While this toaster is certainly on the higher end of the price spectrum, it is entirely well worth it. It is made well, sturdy and not flimsy and it looks great and does not take up lots of space. The features are few, but how many features does a toaster need to have? It has a defrost and bagel setting plus the toast pops way out and has never gotten stuck even with odd sizes and shapes of breads and bagels. So far, very happy with the purchase. I don't find that it toasts super fast, but it's not any slower than other toasters I've had.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Toaster!, June 2, 2010

This review is from: Dualit 25375 Lite Soft Touch 2-Slice Toaster, Black (Kitchen)
Pro's:
Bagel function is amazing. At first I had no clue what it was or how it worked, but it makes the outside of your bagel toasted while keeping the inside of the bagel nice and soft, its awesome.

Its got a lot of space to put stuff in. I can fit burger buns in there if i want a toasted bun.

Con:
Recent reviews said that this toaster would "eject my toast up in the air and onto the floor". This got me excited that I would have projectile toast and be able to catch it as it flew through the air... it is just a normal toaster in that respect though. Toast is done and it just pops up staying in the toaster.

5.0 out of 5 stars I CAN'T BELIEVE IT'S A DUALIT-GREAT!!!!!, November 10, 2004
This review is from: Dualit 25375 Lite Soft Touch 2-Slice Toaster, Black (Kitchen)
I needed another toaster for our ski lodge. I've used DUALIT chrome toaster for many, many years and just loved it.

When I went to amazon.com and saw a DUALIT LITE toaster at $79.99 I was in awe of the price. Ordered it and just love it.

Perfect even toasting, american style pop-up toaster and can accomodate my favorite bagels.

I can't believe that you can purchase a quality DUALIT product at this pricepoint. I highly recommend that you go out and buy this item. I'm going to get several as holiday gifts!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good, December 27, 2010

Arrived quickly, has worked excellently so far. Did arrive with the spring to the vertical stabilizer rack on one side unhooked. This was easily reattached, but could have caused problems with bread leaning into the filaments. Can recommend this product highly.

4.0 out of 5 stars Easy to use, but one imperfection, May 14, 2010
This review is from: Dualit 25375 Lite Soft Touch 2-Slice Toaster, Black (Kitchen)
Quite frankily, we'd decided it was impossible to get a decent toaster for less than $100. The "special" Oster we'd bought at Target four months ago for around $40 was worse than the Oster it replaced. $40 struck us as a fair price for something that simply toasted the sides of bread and bagels.

After I read the write-ups on this and its competitors, I realized I'd have to expand my toaster universe and I quickly focused in on this Dualit for a good balance between price and quality. Now that we have it, we like it. The retro Art Deco styling suits our kitchen and the easy ways you operate the toaster are a delight. It toasts very well, now that we've figured out what temp's needed for what, EXCEPT one corner on one side only of each piece browns more significantly than the rest of the toast.

One major plus: When you put in bread or a bagel, the toaster self-adjusts for width; you only adjust for heat, if at all. The bagel-lover pushes a button for one-time bagel-toasting. This way you don't discover your toast ruined by a bagel fan before you who did not re-set the toaster for Toast.

Excellent toaster from perhaps the best toaster manufacturer. It's operation is nearly silent, and it toasts evenly every time. The only complaint I have is that I paid 3 x as much for a chrome 2 slicer years ago, and I'm not sure what the premium got me. I suppose I could prop up a corner of my house with the chrome monster, and it will probably outlive me, so that's certainly something. The upshot: if you need a toaster, buy this one. Don't increase your pain just to save a few bucks with a cheaper, inferior toaster.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent toaster, September 1, 2008

This toaster works very well. It toasts very evenly if you toast 2 slices of bread. The instructions inform you that if you toast one slice of bread, the side facing the empty slot will be darker, since heat transfers from the empty slot. This is definitely true. The lift lever is a nice feature. If it is difficult to remove whatever you are toasting, you just lift up on the lever and it elevates the item for you to remove. The crumb tray is easy to empty without making a mess. The toaster is solid and very good quality. It also looks nice and goes well in a kitchen with black appliances.

It's nice to buy a product that works exactly as expected and doesn't disappoint: the Dualit 25375 toaster. It is a very solid, well-made product with minimalist, elegant styling: one indicator light, one lever, one knob (with a bagel button built-in). Toast is done quickly, evenly-browned, and the ejector and lift work well. The "bagel" feature (press the center of the toast control knob) applies more power to the center heaters and less on the outer ones to toast more on one side of bagels, buns, and crumpets. This is actually a very useful feature. An excellent value and highly recommended.
