3.0 out of 5 stars cute, does the job
...but it's not to be compared to the more expensive dualit models. the first one I got from amazon had to be replaced after three weeks of use because one of the heating elements stopped working (amazon's customer service was great with the exchange) but I have not had the same problem with the replacement they sent--not yet, anyway. It looks great though.

Unique looking with the soft polypropylene body contrasting with the chrome; distinctive and attractive for an item that sits in plain view in the kitchen all the time. With normal bread in before lowering, the bread sticks almost 1/2 way out of the toaster, making it very easy to remove hot toast, to toast smaller items (the plunger will go up even further to assist); the slots are extra wide so, although I have not used the sandwich cage accessory, I can see how there is enough room to make a sandwich and toast it in the cage (apparently a British idea, and maybe something worth investigating). I am doing normal toast on only setting 2, bagels on 3 and with the separate bagel feature they come out perfect! (bagel feature: push a button on the end of the darkness knob so that the heating elements change their normal output to get the bagels just right). Real British crumpets (not English Muffins) toast on 8.
The machine feels solid as if it will last a long time. The Cobalt Blue color is more of a bluish-purple in normal light, but very attractive.
Very happy with the machine (the vendor that sent ours had it to us inside 48 hours with normal shipping!)

August 2009: an update, 2 1/2 years after first writing this review the toaster still works well and looks good. The colour has not faded and the performance has been solid.

This toaster is not one of the cheap, lightweight, worthless toasters routinely sold for $19.99 or less. The ones you can expect to throw out in a year or less. It is substantial and attractive with some nice features. I especially like the extra boost for shorter pieces of bread or English muffins, which is accomplished by pulling up on the toasting lever. It does seem to take longer than some toasters to toast the bread, but overall does a fine job. The color is nice, too.

Love this toaster. Beautiful cobalt blue color & cleans easily. When toasting bagels the bagels are toasted & not dry inside. If you want the best......this is it.

I've had this toaster for over a month now, and unlike my previous toasters (all under $30), this one seems extremely well crafted and works like a charm ... I'm hopeful it will last me for many years to come!

This is a solid little toaster. They finally made a slider that raises high enough that you never have to resort to the fork. The matte finish and color stand out, so if you are going for stealth, stay with black or white. We shall see about longevity, but overall, a step up from the $15 Wal-Mart Blue Light Special.

2.0 out of 5 stars Failed, not repairable, August 1, 2009
By

This toaster started out working just fine, but after less than two years it stopped toasting bread on both sides. The customer service department informed me that the heating elements could not be replaced, so instead of a working toaster, I had another piece of junk for the landfill. I had hoped with the sterling reputation of the Dualit brand, the toaster would give us many years of service. The good old American-made toasters of the past are still around, but sadly do not have wide enough slots to accommodate bagels or today's larger bread slices. To replace the Dualit, I visited the thrift store and paid $7.99 for a Chinese-made toaster that is (so far) working well enough to tolerate. If it gives out, at least I won't feel like I got ripped off!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Toaster, May 10, 2009

Because I bake bread at least once a week and use the toaster often, I spent a great deal of time reading toaster reviews and looking at toasters. After much research, I chose the Dualit Lite. I am extremely happy with this toaster.

I slice homemade bread slightly ticker than store bread. I then freeze the slices in a Glasslock storage container to preserve flavor. For fantastic breakfast toast, I put the frozen slices in the toaster.

With previous toasters, I had to toast it twice to get slightly brown toast from well frozen bread. With the Dualit Lite only once is required. The toast is excellent.

Since the toaster is one of the first items to greet me in the morning, I like the simple design and quiet operation. It does not have several buttons or lights. Only a tasteful "on" light, which flashes if you are using the bagel setting. Also, the toast lift feature works well.

The toaster has a good feel and attractive but unassertive appearance. This is a great toaster. You will want to keep it for many years.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Pleased, October 30, 2008
This review is from: Dualit 25376 Lite 2-Slice Toaster, Soft Touch Cobalt Blue (Kitchen)
As this was my first buy of an appliance I was a littel concerned as to what I was getting. To my delight, I was very happy to receive this toaster and it matches the decor very well in my kitchen. Extremely pleased with purchase.
