5.0 out of 5 stars Beats the Competition
I have had a couple of mini-choppers, and this is head and shoulders superior. My previous products smashed things rather than chopping them. This little jewel creates perfectly chopped garlic and minced herbs. I plan to throw away my garlic press. Also it's low profile lets it fit into a very small space, yet it holds over 2 cups. I love it!

2.0 out of 5 stars Stripped plastic gears
This was a good little chopper with plenty of power. I was very happy with it for almost a year, but then the plastic gears or belt wore out. It is now useless. If this chopper had metal gears it would still be running and would last much longer than a year. Metal gears are not such a big deal, my half inch drill has them and the whole drill only costs $30. Don't think...

5.0 out of 5 stars Powerful chopper, August 1, 2009

Last June Amazon ran this on special for $18.05 with super saver shipping, and I almost didn't get it because I have another chopper made by Black & Decker. However, the B&D chopper doesn't work well for some things that I do, namely garlic and chestnuts, so I purchased this one. In spite of the smaller bowl, this chopper is so worth it because of the much more powerful motor; it pulverizes garlic, which is what I wanted it to do. The bowl will hold about two stalks of celery and half an onion at one time. On the less powerful speed, it will finely chop without making mush of everything. Design wise, it is very attractive, and it is well made. I expect this item to last a long time, and if Amazon ever runs it on special again, I highly recommend it. The plastic bowl is way more sturdy than the B&D model, but be sure you place it on the top shelf of the dishwasher.

August 13, 2011: Well, it breaks my heart to say that I ruined this chopper by attempting to chop up shelled chestnuts. My bad. Do not do this. There is apparently no chopper capable of cutting up chestnuts; that just has to be done by hand with an extremely sharp knife.

This chopper is of very good quality and very versatile. I used it to chop chicken and it did such a good job! The blade is very sharp and you need to be extra careful. Overall, I love it!

This is the best mini chopper I've ever used. Not only good at chopping, but has a beautiful profile if it must be left on the counter. Very heavy duty and quality built.

2.0 out of 5 stars Stripped plastic gears, October 21, 2010

This was a good little chopper with plenty of power. I was very happy with it for almost a year, but then the plastic gears or belt wore out. It is now useless. If this chopper had metal gears it would still be running and would last much longer than a year. Metal gears are not such a big deal, my half inch drill has them and the whole drill only costs $30. Don't think you are going to repair this chopper either, it is made so it can't be taken apart to fix. To make matters worse, I can't find a single food processor on the market today that has metal gears. They're ALL plastic! This has to stop! Plastic (of any kind) is NO GOOD for making gears! Don't expect ANY machine you buy to last very long if it has plastic gears or belts.

About all one can do is look for a food processor that is "Direct Drive" (no gears). The drive shaft of the motor is connected to the chopper directly with no plastic gears or belts. These should last much longer (if the motor is powerfull enough and doesn't burn out). Everything is made so cheap these days.

Final word on this machine.... this is about the best small chopper you can find, if you don't mind buying a new one about every 12 months. Too bad they're too cheap to use steel gears. I will buy a direct drive machine now.

this is a fine chopping machine. i got mine for $20 and man i regret not getting two. i have used it on nuts, frozen candy, spices and more. it cuts through stuff so fast & furiously that i almost get annoyed that it takes me more time to pull it out of the cabinet and plug it in than it does to use it. not too crazy about the way the cup clips onto the rest of the unit but it is a small issue and would not stop me from recommending it or buying another.

Wonderful product. Very sturdy. Great finish. And for a chopper this size has a lot of W! Way ahead of similar sized and priced products. Very satisfied.

I've used this chopper a few times now and have been generally happy with the results over the first couple weeks. It handles everything from veggies to mozzarella and beyond. I'm a happy buyer in the early stages at least.

This is the best small food processor I've ever owned. The quality is excellent. It is sturdy and compact with 2 speeds. Perfect for one or two people. I love the substantial weight of it and the ease of cleaning. I use it every day for chopping chicken and vegetables to making quick sauces and relishes. I give it my highest recommendation.
