5.0 out of 5 stars Toasts Great, Looks Good, Easy to Use

1.0 out of 5 stars Uneven toasting
We've had this toster for about 3 weeks and we're tyring to return it. The toast is uneven both vertically and horizontally, and burns at #4 out of 8. We need a long 4-slice toaster because we buy bread that is wider than regular sandwich bread. This is a real disappointment at $120!

My friends will admit that toasters have been something of an obsession with me lately. I've bought and returned products from T-Fal, Cuisinart and Russell Hobbs, all for poor basic toasting function.

Finally, a toaster that works. Here are the key points:
* It makes consistently good toast, reasonably quickly, totally consistently. Toast is evenly browned on both sides. Think every toaster does this? Try the Cuisinart CPT-180.
* Its #8 (maximum) setting will go long enough to blacken even homemade bread during a single cycle (most toasters will require two cycles at max setting to make even dark brown toast). But it can also be set to toast lightly.
* The toasting lever raises bread high enough to give easy access to even very small pieces. Russell Hobbs' unit leaves you with burned fingers every morning.
* Controls are simple to use, feel very solid.
* The unit looks good, and its design takes up very little space. Black plastic ends are a little cheap looking, but not a big deal.

This is a great toaster, and I recommend it without reservation.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lots of control, great bagel function, looks nice, March 8, 2005
This review is from: Dualit 45375 Lite 4-Slice Toaster, Soft Touch Black (Kitchen)
I am very happy with this toaster and am glad I didn't spend $300 on the top-of-the-line Dualit. I don't think it could work much better than this one. This one just seems to have less expensive parts (some plastic).

Pluses:

+ Gives great and consistent control over the darkness of the toast.

+ The bagel feature lets you toast only the cut sides of the bagel. Works well and consistently. No more burned bagels or crunchy tops!

+ Toast is raised high enough to get it out without burning your fingers.

+ Attractive design.

+ Simple, sturdy controls.

Minuses:

- When done toasting, very small pieces of toast (like the end pieces of Pepperidge Farm cinnamon bread) sometimes pop right out of the toaster and land on the counter.

- Seems to toast a little more slowly than other toasters I've used.

I would recommend this to anyone who is picky about good design and functionality but isn't interested in shelling out even more for a fancier-looking model.

4.0 out of 5 stars Dual it 45375, January 12, 2011

Toasts well. Tends to toast more on the edge than the middle of the slice. Nice features...large trays. Well constructed.
We are satisfied with the product. We chose this toaster because of the size of the tray....accomodates a large slice of bread.
Easy to use control settings and release button.
Attractive small appliance.

4.0 out of 5 stars As advertised, January 10, 2011

The toaster performs very well. All the features are well thought out. The lifting lever is especially useful. The only negative I have is that it is larger than some people would like. The size is fine for a spacious kitchen but more difficult if space is limited.

This "toaster" should be called an INCINERATOR. We must have acquired a defective product...I'm sure the manufacturer does not intend the No. 1 setting to burn everything. That's what ours does. I e-mailed the manufacturer but got no response. This one's not even going to the Goodwill. It's going in the trash.

Bought this toaster 4 months ago. Chose it for the longer slots, which we use and need. Replaced an older model kitchenaid that I couldn't find anymore. I like my toast very lightly toasted and this toaster does just fine for that. My husband likes his toast much more toasted. It fails at that. It burns the entire perimeter of any style or type of bread and leaves the center fairly untoasted. I'm tired of the smell of burning toast as he tries in vain to get the center to a color he likes. One other complaint: you can't clean the crumbs out, like on my old toaster

We've bought several toasters over the last twenty years and they all seemed to dry out the bread before the toast is nearly dark enough. This toaster delivers what was promised. With a setting of 2.5, the toast is a nice golden brown and the inside is still soft. We would buy this toaster again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Toasts well; what more can you ask?, March 29, 2010
This review is from: Dualit 45375 Lite 4-Slice Toaster, Soft Touch Black (Kitchen)
This toaster does just what a toaster should do-- it toasts bread and bagels nicely. The toast settings work well, and will toast from very lightly to charred, and everything in between. There are two long slots, so that bread of various sizes can be toasted. There is a bagel button which allows toasting of one side only (so that it toasts the top, but not the bottom of the bagel). And when toasting is complete, this baby amusingly launches the toast with vigor out and onto the counter (or floor).
