I bought this lovely toaster because (a) my toaster oven takes about 5 minutes to make toast - and that's its only job (b) my toaster oven is HUGE and SO UGLY! I got fed up with how much space it took up in my pantry and finally decided to splurge on the Dualit. I wanted a toaster that I loved to look at, so I could leave it on the counter without 'shame.' It is beautiful and makes perfect toast in under 60 seconds. It's so good, actually, that I burnt my first try because I had the settings up too high. (Heat scale is 1-9: on a 3, I had perfect toast in less than a minute.) On setting 9 my toast was ... not toast. For those who appreciate well-designed items, I highly recommend that you splurge on this toaster! [For size perspective, the Dualit Lite is the same size as a regular 2-slice toaster. I was afraid it would be too small, but it's just right to keep out all the time.]

I don't make a lot of toast, but when I do, I need to make more than two at a time for family breakfast. I had a four slice toaster that never worked right or well and took up a ridiculous amount of counter space, especially for something not used that often. I put up with its poor functionality because I didn't use it much. Once our kitchen was remodeled, it was time for a new one. I read lots and lots of reviews and basically wound up with a consensus that none worked really great or the ones that did were either two-slice or hideously expensive. While this toaster is certainly on the higher end of the price spectrum, it is entirely well worth it. It is made well, sturdy and not flimsy and it looks great and does not take up lots of space. The features are few, but how many features does a toaster need to have? It has a defrost and bagel setting plus the toast pops way out and has never gotten stuck even with odd sizes and shapes of breads and bagels. So far, very happy with the purchase. I don't find that it toasts super fast, but it's not any slower than other toasters I've had.

Arrived quickly, has worked excellently so far. Did arrive with the spring to the vertical stabilizer rack on one side unhooked. This was easily reattached, but could have caused problems with bread leaning into the filaments. Can recommend this product highly.

This toaster is the best we've ever had. Sturdy and well-made, I think we finally got our money's worth, even at [...]. I was sick of the cheap-o toasters and found this lovely thing after much research into the available toasters out there.

The only thing I would change would be to put the "cancel" button in a different place than on the end of the main dial - sometimes it's too easy to turn the dial to a different setting if you like using this button. But with the preview feature (just lift the lever to check your food while it toasts) that's not a big deal. I'll still shell out the bucks for one of these in the future if I can.

Get a Dualit if you have the money. We got tired of returning the vast majority of cheap-o toasters every time we shopped for one. Pay for the "Rolls-Royce" of toasters for once in your life - they have these nice models under a hundred bucks and even better ones at higher prices - and they are definitely worth it, in my opinion.

I was really looking forward to this toaster, but I am getting ready to send a second one back to Amazon. I had read many positive reviews both here and on other sites, so maybe these were just from a bad lot. On the first one, the bagel function didn't work, many of the elements didn't light, and it burned the bottom while barely toasting the top. Just tried my replacement today and the bagel function sort of works, but is backwards (outside elements stay lit while many of the inside ones do also), numerous elements don't work at all, and same problem with bottom burning. Time to try a new brand!

I LOVE this toaster. It toasts your bread, muffin, or bagel to your selected level of perfection. I love the slim lines and it looks great on the counter, so I can leave it out. If you are looking for a great toaster that also looks great, look no further!

I'm amazed that there are so many positive reviews for this toaster. Considering the cost, I expected it to perform better. Any size, texture or freshness comes out burned on the bottom and untoasted on the top. If I want the entire piece of bread to be toasted, I have to take it out, turn the bread upside down and toast again. Needless to say, timing is everything. Who wants to do that in the morning when you're getting reading to start your day. GRRRRRRRRRRR After many, many years of one Sunbeam radiant toaster with no complaints, I expected more for the price. If you think this is such a great product; come to my rummage sale. Next, I'll look for someone who can repair my old one. In this throw-away world, what are my chances?

This is the best toaster I have ever purchased. Its lite and easy to use. I like the fact you can lift the lever to see your toast before it pops up.

Nice product but it is not cream colored, it is quite yellow which makes it less workable in color combinations. Probably works fine but I had to return it without trying it because of the color.

How wonderful to be enjoying great toast again. Received this toaster yesterday and I haven't stopped making toast yet! I had forgotten what toast should really be: perfectly browned, soft inside and a wonderful crispy texture. As always, the Amazon crew sent it out promptly and well-packed. Gotta go! Got the urge for some cinnamon toast, the comfort food of my youth.
